Last night was opening night for the comedy The 39Steps. It was very well done and my group joyed it thoroughly! It has very little resemblance to the Hitchcock movie but both are based on a novel written in 1915. The four actors were sooo versatile.

The Coronado Playhouse is the longest running community theater company in San Diego. Shows are in the Coronado Community Center. This is a nice small theater with cabaret seating. Wine and non-alcoholic beverages are served. Guests/patrons sit at small tables with four banquet chairs per table. The theater is small so views of the stage are still good although if... More

We went to see the CCP presentation of A Little Night Music - last night. Excellent presentation, great casting, and unlike a lot of community theater presentations each of the actors was perfect for their role, believable as their character. In several visits to this Community Theater, we have found this to be the standard to expect. This is a... More

My family went to Coronado Playhouse to see "Sugar", the musical based on the old movie "Some Like It Hot." Venue: A unique little place...instead of rowed seating, we were at small tables (think comedy club), with a bar in the back. There isn't much space, but this means everyone is fairly close to the stage with a great view.... More

We were here as first timers enjoying Throughly modern Millie. The positives, location was a quick walk from the Coronado Beach Resort. We enjoyed the show and the prices were great for a night out but the tables are placed too close together. We were seated at table 10 and my view was blocked by a large woman seated in... More

If you enjoy community theater you will love this informal cabaret style theater where you can enjoy a glasses of wine and popcorn and meet new friends at a table for four.

We experienced "Boeing, Boeing", a farcical play with lots of silly stuff. I found it "over acted", too over the top. The building was also over cooled so we were shivering in long pants and jackets. The table top seating is fun. There was plenty of snacks, candy and beverages available. The price was right at $17pp.

This review is only based on one play: mistletoe&mayhem play! Here is the deal: the play was very good for community theater; and for $15 a ticket you cant go wrong! The value made it a 5. Broadway it is definitely not, but again it was still done very well; and made for a fun (and funny!) night :) Its... More

I loved the venue. The Coronado Playhouse is situated right by the water in Coronado Island. It is almost a park-like setting. There are tables and chairs where you can sit on while enjoying the view of the water only a few feet away. The play we watched was good (Dearly Beloved) but quite slow, although the cast was awesome... More

Coronado Playhouse not only mounts very good productions, but it has the best venue in San Diego. Due to its beauty and amenities it is also used for many wedding receptions. It is a relatively new building within walking distance of the Hotel Del Coronado. It not only has beautiful views of the bay and San Diego, but it's just... More
