Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My brother-in-law booked us at Salt Creek midweek through GolfNow.com at just $32 per, including cart. It's the best $32 course I've ever played, in better than average shape and with some great challenges. The designer was not on a land budget as it's laid out over a great expanse, fitting well into the natural environment. Very quiet and lots of wildlife and views to enjoy. Just 25 minutes from downtown San Diego.

I am sorry this course is closing. it is a unique course with difficult greens that are very challenging. The fairways are hard, and the ball rolls a long way. I liked the hominess of the clubhouse. I am glad I had a chance to play before it closed.

Salt Creek is a find. The fairways and greens are well maintained and practice putting green and chipping green are roomy and varied. Loved the rattlesnake warning keeping golfers out of the out-of-bounds areas. I ride a mountain bike so I'm used to seeing rattlesnakes nearly every time I ride in the Lagunas.
A cou[le of well placed water hazards and rolling topography put my meager skills to the test.

The price was $54/pp with cart. I should've payed the extra $20/pp and played Steele Canyon again. It's a low-end course. The grounds are not in good shape. The fairways hadn't been mowed, the greens were terrible, there was no landscaping, and worst of all... it was a 5 hr+ round.

We were so fed up we skipped the last hole.

Not bad really except I think the drought is getting to them. The fairways were super hard and dry. Great layout and views though and price wasn't crazy. $70

For starters I rarely give one star... there not much point as most people, at least l do, ignore them as they are people that are just ranting and have had odd experiences.

Butttt....

I Played Salt Creek about 3 years ago and had a great time. Great course!... I live n San Diego but the farthest south I play would be Balboa.. Well,.. I played Salt Creek yesterday and it was SO SAD... I hate to see courses that are destitute and in states of disrepair... and that was the care. I'd heard that Salt Creek was having major problems with water rights and allocations. I'd forgotten about it until I showed up yesterday.

Worse course conditions I've every seen at any course EVER.

The first 50 yards of any fairway are just dirt and rock... I'm not talking dried grass - but actual dirt and rock. All the water features are bone dry and the T boxes are hammered. The trees still get water but thats it.

This was a beautiful course once... now I can't even fathom the millions it will take to get it back in shape. I will never play there again...

So sad.

Put it this way ... it makes the Balboa 18 look tropical.

Challenging course especially if wind is blowing like it was the day i played.
Nice mountain/links style course. Greens in good shape. The rough needed some watering though.
Bob Crowly was the nicest most friendly and accomodating marshall ever. Thanks Bob!

Good Mid Week Value, $35 GreeN Fees After 2 Pm For 18 Holes. Drawback Is Its Under High Power Lines, But Course Itself Is Relatively Challenging. Lost Lots Of Balls In Vegetation. Great Views And Fairways And Greens Are Well Groomed. Rabbits And Squirrels Are Literally Everywhere, Kind Of StrangeActually. Overall Outstandin Value For The Money. Had A Great time.
