This California State Park offers guided tours of the historical Bidwell Mansion an architectural gem in the heart of Chico. The tour offers a glimpse into what life here was like in the last half of the 1800s as well as a bit of the family's history.

A nice short visit near Chico State University. If you've never been in Chico, it is ok to see at least once for a bit of Chico's history.

We did the mansion tour and really enjoyed it. It is not all original, but has been restored to very close to the original. Furnishings are a combination of original pieces and period pieces. Three stories, has stairs, and there is quite a bit of standing. The museum tells all about John Bidwell who was really a true founding father... More

You won't want to miss this tour if your in Chico! There is so much history packed into this house, with all time period pieces of furniture, and fantastic architecture throughout. The tours are great, our 12 year old son had lots of great questions, we all loved this tour. The picture below is a piece of art, which there... More

We enjoyed the tour of this historic mansion. I think my teens would have been a little bored, but we enjoyed hearing about the Bidwells. I had no idea how much influence John Bidwell had on California's agricultural beginnings. Guide was very knowledgable. It was a good, quick choice for an interesting activity while visiting Chico.

This is not just a house tour -- between the exhibit area and the house tour itself, you will learn quite a bit about the history of the greater Chico area itself, as well as Mr. Bidwell and his business enterprises. You will pay for the tour at the visitors' center and meet your guide there. Tours start on the... More

Another enchanting visit to the Bidwell Mansion and grounds! Cake & ice cream accompanied by orchestra music of the period! A perfect Chico day for this event! Re-enactments by local actors brought the mansion alive with talk of the times. A peak into John & Annie's life is always a treat.
