North of Galilee River where Jesus used to visit often. Rich Jews residence was the place. Jesus did many wonders here.

The historical Jesus’s hometown & neighbourhood is an excavated ruin of a stone hut, some walls & the ruins of a Roman-built Jewish synagogue. A huge modern octagonal church is built suspended over the archaeological site of St Peter's house like a giant UFC place...More

It was starting to rain when we arrived here so my review will be slightly slanted. The synagogue was interesting but so full of people taking a picture was impossible. The excavation of Peters house was enlightening. Short time spent here.

So many miracles in this place that provided the historical background for the many miracles happening today. Capernaum today is a site of uncovered streets and house foundation dating back to the days when Jesus walked and taught.

Capernaum became Jesus' home town and scence of many of his miracles! It was also the home of Jesus' first disciples: the fishermen Peter, Andrew, James and John, and the tax collector, Matthew. Today it is a huge archaeological site.

The latest church ruins that are still somewhat vertical are built above an older church from 300 years before. It is always amazing to see something that old and the construction practices that helped it last. It can be crowded but it is a large...More

Despite the increase in commerciality this place is still amazing offering a real sense of biblical truth and reality. It is easy to sit in the Synagogue and imagine Jesus teaching us.

Overall, this area gets a lot of press, but it is a “not real” site. The ruins are 400 years after Jesus and there is nothing there related to where Jesus walked or lived. This site has been “loved” to death. The crowds are crazy...More

You should not miss this site, but it will be crowded. Having a good guide will be s big help. Hot weather can be difficult. Incredible excavation!

This place may sound like a must see for religious people, but I think anyone can enjoy it. The view of the Sea of Galilee is lovely, the ruins should delight any history fan, the churches and religious highlights should be great for any believer....More

Steeped in history because it became the home town of Jesus and several of the Disciples, this is certainly a very special place to visit. Much of the town remains though in various stages of ruin and there are also remains of a Jewish synagogue....More

If you can find a guide book that tells about each ruin and building and the gardens, putting them in context that would be great. We had a guided tour and were there about 2 hours. I would have stayed longer enjoying the... More
