There are lots of ancient sites in Capernaum, but it brings to life what the place was like in the time of Jesus - as this is where he lived as a boy. Don't forget to cover shoulders and knees if you visit inside the...More

Capernaum is an interesting spot. It's a historic town on the Sea of Galilee now preserved for tourists. Once you pay a small entrance fee, you can explore the old synagogue (one of the oldest in the world), retreat to shade under the trees, go...More

Capernaum is mentioned in the gospels as being very much a place Jesus Christ spent a lot of time. However this visit is dominated by Peter and Jesus is not mentioned which is sad.

I loved this place very much when I was in Israel. There is only some of the old city to be seen as a lot of it is still covered. But what has been digged out so far gives you a little impression of the...More

Try to go early, as it gets crowded and parking is limited. Entry ticket is 5NIS and there isn't a lot of information at the site. You can buy a brochure for 1NIS at the ticket counter, but it only tells you where things are....More

The excavations here are most intriguing, and even has the ruins of a house where Jesus is supposed to have lodged. Located next to the church, you can spend much time gazing at the ruins and gardens. This is one of those places, though, that...More

Wonderful place to visit and learn about the ancient city. Special place next to the sea of Galilee. Take time to stroll though the ruins, a guided tour is good.

As a believer, this place is where Jesus spent much of his time, preaching and healing. There is a modern church built over the ruins of St. Peter's house. There are also the remains of the town--a temple and dwellings.

I went with a tour group to the Sea of Galilee. Historically, this is the town of Jesus and was very interesting. The ruins in Capharnaum were still very intact and the details were still very clear. There were several tour groups in this location...More

If you can find a guide book that tells about each ruin and building and the gardens, putting them in context that would be great. We had a guided tour and were there about 2 hours. I would have stayed longer enjoying the... More
