What a wonderful tour! We weren't sure about the logistics, so just to let you know, you meet at the old Piedras Blancas Motel, where they collect your money or your online reservation. Then, everyone gets back into their cars and caravans down to the lighthouse. There, you meet your guide. All volunteers, we had Abel Martinez, who is so... More

Piedras Blancas --- White stone is the translation and not because it is white rock but just rock covered in guano! We met in a rainstorm at the abandoned Piedras Blancas motel some two miles north of the light station and were split into groups of twenty, paid the organizers (TIP: take your NPS Golden pass or equivalent for half... Well informed guides and an easy walk back through history on a beautiful cliff on the Central Coast of California. Well worth the time and $10.

When in the area, be sure to visit. The location is stunning, the volunteer tour guides are well-informed, friendly, and passionate. I've visited twice and would go again. I saw whales both times, as well as birds, little critters, and wonderful native flora. You can't go to the top of the lighthouse due to safety concerns - it doesn't matter.... More

My husband and I came here during a mini-vacay with 3 other couples in December 2016. We had a group of 8 and one of our friends pre-paid for us and made a tour reservation, although they said no reservations are needed for groups less than 10 people. It's $10 per adult ($5 ages 6-17 and free for kids ages... More

We shared an awesome day with 15 other people on our tour of the lighthouse and the grounds. Such an interesting light station. We actually had the opportunity to see whales, sea otter, dolphins, gorgeous spring wildflowers (actually weeds), and really enjoyed our two hour tour. I thought we weren't going to be able to attend if we didn't buy... More

Periodically, the lighthouse will open up at night for photo tours (5 – 7:30 p.m.). If you get the chance, go! You basically have the run of the property and are free to explore all the buildings and all the viewpoints. Jodie, who was working there, was super accommodating, friendly and helpful. And so were the two volunteer photographers who... More

We enjoyed our tour. The guide was very knowledgable and the groups were small. Provided bonocolars to view birds and sea life. Well organized. Could provide more info why the tour group meets several miles from the destination on their brochure.

This isn't an old lighthouse but it's more accessible than other lighthouses in that you can go inside. The actual light and cupola are missing thanks to earthquakes but lots of photos show the original look. (And the original light is on view on Burton st in Cambria). Some relics from shipwrecks nearby are on view and you can also... More

Nice light station. Disappointed that we could not climb to the top. The first order Fresnel lens is displayed in Cambria. We have been to many light stations world-wide. This is not one of the finest but still worth a look.
