My son and I hiked to a few and drove to others. My 12 year old loved the sculptures and could appreciate the beauty of the sculptures as well as the detail that went into these creations.

It was a real adventure driving through dirt roads to get to these amazing structures. Plan ahead and get a map (online or at the tourist center) to find out where the different statues are. Top picks for us we're the elephants, dinosaurs, and the sea serpent. Have fun!

I had no idea that there were 130 of these full size statues scattered around Borrego. The detail is amazing and fairly easy to drive to for picture taking

Who know that rusted metal sculpture out in the desert would be so cool to see? We did and hundreds of others did too! Great stuff and photo ops. Not fun when its windy.

Galleta Meadows was established by Dennis Avery. He commissioned the incredible metal sculptures seen around Borrego valley. The artist is Ricardo Breceda. His works are breathtaking in detail. Worth a trip to the desert any time of year.

Imagine that you are driving across the desert on a small two-lane road; the weather is beautiful and all is well. Then suddenly, what is that you see ahead? How can it be? It's a gigantic grasshopper in mortal combat with an equally enormous scorpion! But your eyes are not deceiving you, this is not a vision from an old... More
