See Hitchcock's Venues for "The Birds"
Jul. 2021
Any fan of Alfred Hitchcock's, The Birds, should recognize the name Bodega Bay, and, as such, have an interest in the venues that were used in the film. Though different local buildings and areas were patched together to create the movie town of Bodega Bay, much of the scenery is as it was during filming. Bodega Head was used as a staging area for some of the backgrounds (hills and bay). Therefore, coming to this area was a thrill for me (I researched it in advance). Even without the film connections, this is a beautiful area, and there are sea lions, various birds, and even whales that either live in or pass by the area regularly. Hiking trails and photo ops are everywhere, and some folks come and sit on the ledge facing the ocean to watch for whales almost every day. This location sits on the top of the hill, following the drive that runs through the town to the tip of the peninsula. There is a substantial parking lot, and outdoor rest room facilities. Footing can be unstable due to sand and loose gravel, so use caution and wear appropriate shoes. Watch children, as ledges are sheer drops, with rocks below.

A Pretty Site
Jun. 2021
This is a beautiful site. It was extremely windy when I went (and overcast) so I just took a look around and left after snapping a couple of photos. The hike you can take looks a bit challenging, so if you plan to do this, wear good hiking shoes.

Bring your camera - Bodega Head breathtaking
May 2021
Simply breathtaking ! Nuff said... just drive out around the bay, park the car and take a bit under a 2 mile trail loop (totally easy) with views that will amaze you. We benefitted from a totally clear and cool day - easy 1+ hour drive from the Napa Valley (where it was 100 today and 68 at Bodega Head!). After the walk we stoped for crab sandwich / oysters etc at a local place. Great day!

amazing views, great hike
Nov. 2020
Hike was lovely. Not grueling but interesting enough that it was fun and a bit of an exercise if you continue on all the paths.

Great spot to view. I think you should know all access to beaches in this area are tricky. Yes there are trails to beach but kinda steep and sandy. Some have rock steps and some are wood but you have to be careful.
