Having visited Berkeley a half dozen times over many years, I am acquainted with the hippie aspect of the city. Well, here is the yuppie part of the city. Vegetarian/vegan eateries? Nope. Great bookstores? Nope. Warby Parker and Apple? Yup.

And shopping. Meet relatives from the area to eat at the selection of iconic restaurants in the area. Shop the hipster stores and outlets. Some parking, get there early, try to street park or wait until someone leaves.

We dine at Zut often very good, great service plenty of parking stroll along the street, visit the many shops and other restaurants

I was invited a business associate to join a luncheon and took some time to explore. The collection of nice to very nice, moderately trendy to traditional bars, cafes and restaurants makes this worth a visit.

My favorite stores- Miki's, Rabat, Sur la Table. Zut is good, Peet's is good. Park behind 4th st (near the rr tracks) for free.
