We while away a supremely happy hour or so in the gardens, spending most of that time transported by truly special cactus. All linds, all sizes, each more beautiful than the lasy...and most of them were in bloom, too, making things even more special. Well worth a visit!

Absolutely stunning! Everywhere you turn is a new picture to capture and a sight to indulge in. Bring walking shoes, as the grounds span 34 acres. It even has a redwood grove across the main entrance! 4 hours weren't enough to span the entire space- if pausing to take pictures while hiking the trails.

The UC Botanical Garden is a wonderful place to spend and hour or two wandering the paths to see the various parts of the collection. They have plants from around the world, well labeled. The garden is located in Strawberry Canyon above the UC campus. Many of the trails are hilly, so it's a nice walk as well. The old... More

A botanical trip around the world. The garden is planted and organized according to the varied growing regions of the world. Of special interest: South African hill, Japanese pool, Garden of old roses with its view of the Golden Gate, Mexico and the great variety of growing areas in California. And don't miss the desert.

Loved our visit here. Took a while waiting on the Hill Shuttle, but was worth it! We loved walking along all the paths and exploring each different geographical representation in the gardens. There are places to sit throughout the gardens too. It was super peaceful and beautiful. Would go back again. Only change I would make is making sure we... More

Very enjoyable visit to the Botanical gardens. Lovely garden, historical plant and native species. Loved sitting in the Rose Garden overlooking the bay. Learned about plants not found in Massachusetts. My only complaint is the signs identifying plants were confusing as I could not tell which plant was being marked.

Unbelievable research garden eco diversity in this little space in Strawberry Canyon. Amazing to be able to create multi environments to show off a variety of plants each grouped into their regional climates from rain forest to deserts, from arid to steamy! We started in the South African zone and went on to the Japanese garden, then Garden of Old... More

I always bring out-of-town visitors here. The variety of plants, beautifully displayed, gives them a taste of California in a couple of hours. Always a delightful walk, and great views.

Definitely worth a visit - so much beautiful flora crammed into a relatively compact place. Easily walk-able up the hill from Berkeley - about 20 minutes, or there is parking available and the H Shuttle goes regularly from UC Berkeley campus for a small fare. The gardens are laid out in regions of the world and they are thoughtfully presented... More

Had a great time wondering through the beautiful garden in Berkley. Enjoyed the exotic orchid plants and plants from different parts of the world.
