Another "Big Thing" to view when travelling the Australian Pacific Highway. A small detour to see a Big Axe, which is actually a replica of the original that got eaten by ants.

As a child I must have visited and/or passed by the Big Axe several times on the old Surfer's Paradise holiday route so I didn't really need to see it again (despite the remodel), but being one of Australia's classic big things I wanted to...More

The Big Axe has been relocated since I last stopped here probably 12-15 years ago, and is on proud display. In terms of a place to stop to break a trip, it's a nice spot - tea and coffee from the Driver Reviver inside the...More

Different perspective as we were traveling in a Motorhome & we stopped for a break (used dump site, topped up water & made a toilet stop, these being very clean). Yes the big ace is there but the helpful volunteers in the Centre were great....More

We just stopped by to see the big axe on our way down to Sydney. We couldn't find it at first, and asked a person outside the info centre - turns out it was taken down sometime in the last week. Hopefully it returns soon!

Great place to grab a quirky photo. Can't criticise an attraction that's free in my book. Worth a stop to stretch your legs

And another stop on our 'Big Things' weekend road trip, the Big Axe didn't disappoint. There's also some 'Big' logs there too to include in your Big Things adventure. Toilets on site and a small shop.
