Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Look I’m a sucker for a “big thing” but The Big Axe at Kew did not disappoint!

It’s big! It’s just off the highway. And there’s heaps of parking and a pretty clean bathroom.

Friendly volunteers in the tourist centre / gift shop.

My only complaint was the paucity of Big Axe merchandise for sale. I was able to get a key ring but there wasn’t a specific Big Axe tea towel. That said there was a great effort on specific “Kew” merch that I will not spoil (it’s a definitely worth a browse).

It’s a great place to “stop, revive, survive” and there is a petrol station pretty close by.

Friendly volunteers run this IKew Centre and Diver Reviver during holiday periods. Great selection of gifts, cold drinks, ice creams. It is worth a visit just to browse and get any local information. RV friendly with dump point and clean facilities.

If you need some direction for the area, ask the duo here, they seem to know the chatty locals who pop by to chew the fat.
Part of the local grape-vine no doubt.

Just a 2 minute detour takes you to Kew once a stop for meals but the new highway has killed the town.
There are tiilets with paper and soap that are probably the cleanest public toilets in Australia.
There is a kids playground and picnic tables. We arrived late but there is also an info centre.
Worth stopping at

I'm one to see all the tourist attractions, especially "The Big things" in Australia so we stopped to see this on our way home.
Toilet on site, a caravan dump tip, playground near by as well.

If you're on the Pacific Highway, a quick little detour/pit-stop to the big axe is a wholesome little addition. The attraction is exactly what the name suggests, no more or less. Take a piccie, stop for a toilet break, and get a cuppa.

I needed a fuel stop, so came off the highhway into Kew heading north.

The BIG Axe was a first impression, next to some public amenities.

Underwhelming.

The Big Axe is one if tbe "bigs" you can see around Oz. This one is located right outside the local information centre so do collect material on what there is to see and do. There is a dump site for caravaners there too, a service station with great prices, the local pub, a brilliant café abd you can free camp overnight in the large pub carpark.
Take the very small detour off the highway, it is really worthwhile

Always ready to help. Huge variety of local art, craft and goodies along with the maps, brochures and information. Has toilets on site, a dump point and gardens to picnic. Quiet just of the highway
