I didn't go skiing or do any activities but there seemed to be plenty of room for people to move around safely whether you choose to snowboard, ski or just play with snowballs. There was a seating area outside and the rental process was straightforward enough without having to do a long wait each time you want to go down... More

I would probably give it a (3), but my husband really enjoyed it, so I am trying to be fair. The area is just beautiful and quiet. The resort needs to do some updating, but it was clean, very nice staff and although there were not a lot of food choices, the food was good.

Bear Valley Resort is a ski area east of Angles Camp California in the Sierra Mountains. Because it is isolated it doesn't get the traffic that the ski areas get in the Tahoe area. What that means is you can have an excellent day of skiing on anything from beginner to expert runs with very little lift lines. That equates... More

My experiences at the resort this past season have for the most part been excellent. I really appreciate they have been running all the lifts, have been grooming the slopes in a superb fashion and have organized reliable transportation from the town to the mountain. Frequent music up at the mountain and at the lodge has been a nice surprise... More

Took our 3 young kids (10/5/3) for a day trip of snow play and they absolutely loved it. We didn't go to the sledding are but rather just bought saucers there and went to their snow play area. Was not crowded, the snow was so fresh that you could just fall it in (easy to make snow balls).

We travelled to Bear Valley from our resort in Amgels Camp which took just over an hour via H4. There was none of the usual snow traffic and we ended up getting a park 100 metres from the main building. My wife and I had decided to try snowboarding for the first time and had booked a group lesson. We... More

Driving from San Francisco and avoiding the over-populated Lake Tahoe, we arrived at this gem for skiing and fun. A simple, old-style, homey location suitable for family and friends. No artificial people or over-crowded, over priced services. Great value for families and 40% less expensive than Lake Tahoe.

Great deal for good mountain with variety of runs for the range of skiers. Good for learning with a nice long flat beginner hill with lift, but also has some gnarly mogul and black diamond slopes.

I visited here in the summer so can't comment on the snow sports. However it's bound to be better that Alta and Deer Valley because all are welcome. It's an amazing place oin the summer, weather is great and loads to do. Mountain biking, walking, swimming and canooing. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Would love to return sometime.
