First of all We were scheduled to go on a Wednesday and they forgot to pick us up. That should’ve been our first indication that it wouldn’t be good. We rescheduled for Friday. They were late picking us up and what was supposed to be a 50 minute van ride turned into 2 hours! The driver didn’t even tell us his name. He only talked to 2 Spanish people on the van. No music or anything. Once we got there we were rushed on the horses and took off right away. We were told it was up in the mountains and went on a beautiful beach. No mountains in sight and the beach was disgusting with litter including used condoms! The guides were impersonal and only talked to the Spanish couple. Then at one point they made the horses gallop which was way too fast and the guide looked back and laughed. The washrooms were disgusting and had no soap or paper towels. After the ride they said to wash our hands and again no soap or paper towels! The ride back to our resort was delayed when the driver sat at one of the resorts waiting for a couple to come back with a tip for 15 minutes! Which made us late for our dinner reservation! I told him I was upset and he laughed at me!
All in all I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend this excursion!! VERY DISSAPPOINTED!!

Perfect trip , we were picked up on time from the hotel , dropped at the ranch . Great friendly staff . We were taken to the beach on the horses by a great guide Juan who was fantastic and made it amazing .
We came back down the beach in the sea which was perfect and it started to rain but just made it better.
The only slight issue I had was they were at the end when they tried to peddle there customised tat with our pictures on it at the same price as the trip .
But apart from that a great trip

Did not wait to avoid the rain so we were all soaking wet and cold . The horses are great and run fast that was fun even in the rain . However the tour guide led the wrong way so we had to turn around . I think we did not get the full experience and cut short because of the rain . When we were back the rain stopped :-( . Lot of interesting animals in the ranch . That was great . Has restroom and can wash your hands there . Rides along the beach was very nice just wish the weather was great

The horses seemd well taken care of and the staff was friendly and helpfull.
It was a nice ride thrugh beautifull landscape nd on the beach where the horses was more or less on autopilot which made it easy.
Unfortunately the group we where with was very large aprox 20 persons/horses which was very crowded and the horses were somewhat fighthig for their spot on the trail which was not alway comfortbe since you could eaily get squezed in between two other horses

Best experience ever!!!!!!!!!! The ranch was beautiful, the horses were well taken care of and the guide and staff were amazing at pairing us with horses and making sure we were safe. The horses know the route perfectly and we even got to run the horses down the beach!!! Absolutely unforgettable experience!!

Rancho Carlbeno was an amazing group to go riding with. They picked us up on time from our hotel and we ended up having a private ride. We went the morning of my wedding and it was the perfect activity for a large group to go on. It was very relaxing and beautiful. We got to ride in the jungle and on the beach.

This place was recommended by our representative for Air Canada. He said he had personally been there. It was fantastic. We were picked up on time at our hotel. We arrived to a very clean 'ranch' area with people sweeping and cleaning. My husband and I are very experienced riders and we were paired up with perfect horses. They actually bath the horses every day because there are people who complain that the horses smell like horses! We were taken through different terrains including a beach area where we got to gallop. Hector was our guide and he was great. There was a photographer that came along for some of the ride who took great photos. If you are interested in photos they are worth it as you get stills and videos. I swear the horses actually posed with us! The horses were very well taken care of! Not head shy or skittish in any way. I highly recommend this place.

Thank you melanileg11 for such an elaborated review and generous generous rating. I will let both Hector and the photographer know how much you appreciated his performance. And regarding the horse some of them really love being in front of the camera!

Booked through the Hard Rock, Bus picked us up, 30 min ride to a dirty, fly ridden, hungry animals ranch??,They had an Iguana tied up to the rail. I though was going to hang himself the string they had him tied too was so short. The guide spent 80% of the ride taking pictures of all the families, while we sat on our horse in the sun, waiting for our turn in the photo session. Once we get back to ranch we waited an hour for everyone to see there photos and then waited another 30 min for the bus back to the resort. Once we got on the bus and asked about this bus being the one to Hard Rock we were told yes, only to sit on the side of the road waiting for the bus back to hard rock to pick us up. We left Hard Rock at 930am and got back to Hard Rock at 1:00pm. Wasted better half of our day. Last time we were at the Hard Rock and did the horseback riding it was at the resort on the beach. Not sure why they have gone with this nasty place. Will ask for a refund when I get my credit card statement. Unfortunately cant get the time back.

The pickup from our resort was on time and a good ride to the ranch. The ranch was well maintained and the horses appeared to be well cared for. Some were a little thin, but overall looked much better than other horses we have seen doing these types of excursions in Mexico. The guides got us onto our horses quickly and there was a short ride before we got to the beach and had some pictures taken. The horses were well behaved and knew the trail they were to follow with no direction from the rider. Growing up riding horses almost every day I get frustrated when the horse won't listen to what I am asking it to do, but understand they are used to having novice riders that don't know what they are doing and have learned to tune out the riders. The beach we rode on had a beautiful view of the ocean. We rode off the beach and down a road and past a few resorts before getting back to another beach. On this beach they let us gallop next to the ocean for quite aways. We got to the turn around point and got off the horses and were offered coconuts to drink. We then returned the same way. This time the guide held my horse back while the group went ahead so I could gallop up to them which was a blast. The guide took my phone to take pictures of my husband and I riding as well. Great trip!

I dont know where to even start worst first experience i ever had, both my fiancé and I were recommended this by best day travel and it turned out to be worst experience when it came to the managers customer service.
1. the truck they picked us up in was packed with people at the mist of Covid some people had mask on others didn't nobody was 6ft, the driver was picking up everybody in one truck as we arrived at the ranch everybody on our ride noticed another truck from the same company and place only carrying one couple. They don't care about covid and they'll just stuff you in the truck until there's no more room.
2. The tour itself is nice and takes you to the beach shore which is nice, but beware if you are looking to take beautiful pictures in the water because it's falsely advertised. The horses are beautiful as well but the nicest horses are the wildest due to the fact that they aren't taken out of a small building where they are kept.
3. The photograph was lazy and poor quality when it came to taking our pictures while most of the people and couples in front of us pictures were nice and lovely the remainder of everybody's picture came out with either somebody in the picture, nobody is looking to pay for photo with somebody other than your significant other in it let alone charge $150 for the poorly taken picture a magnet with you picture and a bottle of liquor, where the value of everything technically comes out to $40-$50, once the tour was done they kept us waiting just to sell us something at a price more expensive than the tour itself.
4. The manager of the place forget about it completely disrespectful. Both my fiancé and I come from a work background dealing with giving fantastic to superb customer service. Don't expect that from this place at all the manager and everybody asks you to give them a great review but yet when a customer is explaining to him that there is still a pandemic going on and advising him in the future should use two trucks to pick people up instead of just one to avoid getting or catching covid he brushed of my fiancé and became very rude and disrespectful and became very defensive other customer expressed the same issues and it showed he didn't care at all never will I go to this place at all I love my country but this place shows you the side of DR nobody was or is looking for. If you go to a place of business the customer is technically always right if the information/complain they're bring to the manager is acceptable but this manager could've cared less.
Overall worst experience out of all my trips never dealt with something like this in Aruba or Mexico either. Avoid this place at all cost be careful with the horses and be careful with the rude manager all they're looking to do is take your money for a half ass experience that isn't worth it at all excuse my language but blunt honest is needed for this place. If it was possible I could've given this a 0 out of 5.

My friend and I are interested in doing this trip - we are mature but fit and adventurous ladies!! However, it has been some years since we have been horse riding!! so we would only want to go at a slow pace. My question is does the Ranch have a place which sells drinks - and are there toilet facilities? Many thanks for your replies.

Just let them know it has been awhile since you have been horseback riding. the horse are quarter horse so they are on the smaller. there are washrooms at the ranch. they supply water after the ride. they have lockers to lock up items you won't need on the ride.

Do they take credit card for photos and souvenirs or is it cash only?

We will be staying at the Majestic Mirage at Punta Cana, how far is the resort to the ranch.
Written 24 May 2017
Hello,
I am guessing it would be about 21 minutes from your resort. They pick you up in an open air shuttle and is a pretty nice ride.

Hi I am thinking of visiting in Nov I am travelling with my mother who is in her early seventies. Do u cater for her to participate with the riding? I am an experienced rider however my mums has not been on a horse for 50 years? We are travelling together & I didn't want to leave her out.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi - I saw some riders who were senior and travelling at a more leisurely pace - if she was frail I would say don't do it but as long as she us physically active and you tell the team you want a slow ride they'll do their best

I'm going here in December and would like some advice on trips to take. We have a budget for a few trips but wanted to know if you feel I would be better off booking before I go through Viator or similar or talking to the people in the resort?
Many thanks

Is there a weight limit for horses?
Written 10 October 2016
There is a weight limit, since these are horses, not larger mules. check with the stables.

Hi there,
Please could you tell me if this tour is safe due to it being quite deserted?
Many thanks
Written 3 October 2016
Of course it's totally safe the whole way you're accompanied with the guys and they guide you across the road. Some people there never been horse riding before and they did it good.

I was there on 6/24/2016 with a group. We purchased the CD but when we got home to review it there was nothing on it. How can you get our pictures that we paid for?
