Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Want to relax, ant to play chess, want to enjoy an ice cream, want to learn about the history of the city.
Well it is all here in this one place.
The sculptor that made the sculpture of Bolivar has his ashes placed at the top of the sculpture.

This is one of the nicest (although v touristy) and picturesque towns I saw in Colombia. It's easily walkable and on every corner there's a surprise. I wish I had had more time to spend here.

Ever since 1889 this site has been the center of Armenia. Few historic buildings survived the 1999 earthquake. As a result the square is surrounded by modern buildings such as a government highrise and a cathedral. A statue of Bolivar and a modern sculpture, some green and tall trees provide a provincial capital ambiance.

After offices close activity on the square dies down rather early and shifts towards the north part of the city where there is also more security. Carrera 14, for a significant part a pedestrian zone, links the square with the north. Overall not a bad place with a pleasant ambiance especially during the day.

I felt like I was back in time as I walked around. I learned about Bolivar, I ate, and I viewed the tchotchkes from dozens of vendors, inside and out. Didn't buy much, but that is not the point. Oh and I practiced my Espanol!

The downtown area of Armenia is a very enjoyable and thriving area. The lower section is pedestrian only and quite nice, with good restaurants and shopping. Near the lower end of the area is the plaza with a wide clean area and a beautiful church. I recommend spending a couple hours at least walking around.

Armenia and its main plaza are one of the least interesting places I've been to in Colombia. I sat down in the plaza only to find myself being targeted my a homeless man who was clearly mentally ill. If I hadn't felt I needed to leave, I would have had a better look at the two sculptures. I would avoid sitting in the plaza. There are a lot of homeless people and it doesn't feel very safe. Keep an eye on your belongings if you're in the area. The adjacent mall didn't feel any safer.

This is the center of the city which doesn’t appear to be very proud of itself. Don’t bother to come here or to the square. Wish I had’t visited.

Interesting place with the chaos of the ordinary downtown. Be careful with your belongings.
Besides that, try 'forcha', a traditional bevrage, arepa de chóclo (sweet corn cake), sold in the surrounding. And enjoy the Effort sculpture.

The central square of the city of Armenia with city hall and a church but the architecture of the buildings is not nice and there is nothing special to see for a tourist
