We run 7 day fully guided raft journeys through the Heart of the Marañon, the best time to come is May, June, July, August, September, October and November. Most of our guests will complete a 3 day add-on to the Kingdom of the clouds after this trip. We also offer an outfitting service for row your own and custom rafting journeys from 1 to 30 days in length. The Marañón raftable section is over 500km in length, with secrets around every bend- there's a reason they call it the Grand Canyon of South America! Luigi and his team were amazing! We enjoyed a 3 night and 4 day adventure in the Marañon River in Peru. It was my first time rafting and I felt really save under his guidance.
They customized the tour for us, since it was our honey moon. It was an adventure of a lifetime with so many beautiful memories! You’ll be deep in the nature, contemplating mesmerizing sunsets, wildlife and welcoming communities. Thank you, Luigi and team!

We had a marvelous time on the river with Maranon Experience!!! I can think of no one better to adventure with down this magical river. Maranon Experience has a deep love for the river and works tirelessly to keep it free flowing (Rio Libre).
The river erodes its way through the Andes into the Amazon creating a beautiful canyon of great proportions. Around every corner there is another amazing view waiting for you and the wildlife and plants slowly change from desert to jungle before your eyes.
Fascinating archaeological sites of both chachapoyas and incan origin line the canyon walls and pottery shards are found poking out from every corner.
The canyon is full of life and it is fun to watch the comings and goings of people who call this canyon their home. Little villages line the banks of the river and it is wonderful to drop into another way of life. Get ready for a football game against the kiddos and to be gifted with so much fresh fruit you can't possibly eat it all!
This is a journey that cannot be missed!!! Such a wonderful experience.

The Rio Maranon was such an amazing experience!. Luigi took care of everything and had vast knowledge of the river and communities along it. The river alone is amazing and beautiful, but visiting the many communities along the river was definitely the highlight of the trip. We ate local cuisine prepared by the Peruvians who live in the canyon. Delicious food such as chicken, yucca, and rice are a staple in this communities. We visited a small school and spent time sharing coconuts and a brief recess hanging out in a tree house built in a Mango tree. Once again I cannot recommend this trip enough.

What an experience! 8 days on the river with Ben, Luigi, Mateus and Daniel for the most incredible trip. As a group of 10 the team had their hands full but over delivered on an awesome trip - the food was delicious, the rapids were thrilling and the clear love these guys have for the river is contagious! It was fantastic to explore the local villages, enjoy the waterfalls and have the most amazing trip. We miss it already! Thank you guys!

MIND = BLOWN! The rapids were incredible however the guides, care, campsites, villages and FOOD were even better!! I can’t put into words what an experience this was, I was so nervous but have never felt so safe and had so much fun in my entire life!! I can’t thank you guys enough for such an insane 8 days on the river - She looked after us! I never thought I’d take away from this trip what I have done and I’ll be forever thankful to Ben, Luigi, Matias and Daniel for this trip! SJ x

Being the source of the Amazon, there was definitely an excitement among our group knowing we were going to a special place, however we could have never anticipated just how magical it was going to be. The river is beautiful, with spectacular whitewater, amazing camping spots and many interesting side hikes up slot canyons, big waterfalls and to gorgeous natural swimming pools (just to name a few).
Ben and Luigi (the owners and guides) have worked hard to establish meaningful and constructive relationships with the people who call the river home along the few villages along the way. It provided an added element to this trip that will leave lasting memories and a resounding impact on me for years to come. As this area was once (and technically still is) threatened by dams, it was great to see people from wildly different backgrounds and perspectives on the river coming together to fight to protect something they love (rafters, villagers, farmers, fishermen unite!). Ben and Luigi are doing special work here, I look forward to following their progress.
In summary, it is a trip of a lifetime in a corner of the world certainly feels off the beaten path. If you have a couple good friends who want something exciting, something different and something inspiring, give Maranon Experience a call. They were very accommodating to our group and we are glad they were part of our journey.
I hope to see this place again very soon.

Unbelievable expedition! The Marañon river has so much to offer and running the river with Marañon Experience made it possible for us to see it all. If your looking for a life changing river trip this is the one. From running the rapids to hanging out in the villages to eating delicious food, the Marañon delivers! This is a trip I will never forget.

If you’re looking to get off the beaten track, there’s really no other trip that can offer anything quite like this. Ben and Luigi are fantastic professionals, but moreover are dedicated at heart to saving this wild place. Beyond helpful, knowledgeable, and personable, they easily facilitated the most expansive and well-run adventure I’ve ever had the pleasure of taking part of. They never failed to impress upon us the importance of keeping the river flowing free—obviously for the local communities having lived there for generations, but also for the sheer joy of a multi-day white water expedition that is becoming harder and harder to find around the world. I couldn’t recommend them enough.

The Marañón Experience gave us the opportunity to head down to Peru to do a whitewater expedition on the Marañón River. We spent 10 days on the river focusing on paddling whitewater, however, the trip turned into so much more then just a whitewater expedition! With the guidance from Ben and Luigi we were able to experience so much more then just the river. We got to go on hikes to crazy waterfalls, experience tradition cacao, visit multiple villages along the river, and make connection with the locals. I cannot day enough about this trip it was incredible. Thank you so much Marañón Experience! P.S Ben is a wicked photographer!
