In no tourist literature is this the "Drumbeg Loop" and no local calls it that either

so I don't know, TRIP ADVISOR, where the name has come from. It is, as others have said, (though... read more

We drove the loop in the pouring rain and it did not detract from the lovely scenery. It was however blowing an absolute hoolie and this did prevent us getting out the car at several viewpoints :)

so I don't know, TRIP ADVISOR, where the name has come from. It is, as others have said, (though incorrectly) the the B869 from Lochinver via Clachtoll, Clashnessie, Drumbeg, and Nedd which joins up with the A894 going towards Kylesku (where there is now a...More

Well worth a small detour for some of the best driving around 23 miles of beautiful roads and views, but be aware it's all single track roads and passing places.

Doing the North 500 and probably the best bit so far. More photo stops than anywhere else. Nice beach on the way round too.

In so much of Scotland it is ingenious to select one above another. Each has its own attractions and appearances in wet and dry weather. Try them all and form your own opinion.

Having just returned from Loch Nedd, I can say that this really is a worthwhile drive. Be aware that the locals have to live and travel here, so don't stop in the passing places to admire the views, which are awesome. And watch out for...More

The scenery around the loop takes your breath away at every turn. The roads are narrow and twisty but worth it for the views. Take your time and enjoy it.

As this isn’t listed on any map as the Drumbeg Loop, let’s help people out by giving it its mundane, ordinary name. It is the B869 from Lochinver to Unapool. It is a narrow, one track road with plenty of passing places and a fantastic...More

This was the most rugged, remote, isolated and amazing part of the NC500. It was almost entirely single track road, and that track was very, very narrow. There is very little traffic, and it is too tough for tour buses. You will see moors, lakes,...More

hi Kyle Take the coast route, it's just awesome. Loch Assynt (alongside Quinaig) is beautiful but the coast road beats it every time. The roads fine, just don't go too fast, which you won't want to anyway! I know the area... More
