The hill up to the attraction is incredibly steep but definitely worth it. The castle is incredible. Free admission is an added bonus. There is an option to use an audio guide but honestly it's not necessary, there is so much information on boards and...More

We nearly failed to visit Jedburgh Jail; what a loss that would have been! Set high over the town this elegant, castle-like structure offers a wonderful overview in text and building and exhibits of the regime introduced by Howard when the penal code was revised...More

Couldn't have been better value as there was no admission charge. Not a huge site but very nicely kept and very informative. I would recommend a visit.

It is a jail built on the site of the old castle It was quite interesting and without buying the audio guide, there is enough information on the plaques on the walls. The cells areas are an interesting insight into how things used to be...More

While staying in Jedburgh we visited the jail, abbey and the Mary Queen of Scots House. All three are worth visiting, but of the three, I enjoyed the jail the best maybe because it was different. The visit is free although there is a donation...More

A steep walk uphill from the town. The castle was burnt down in 15th century. This is a jail built on the site of the original castle. The £1.00 audio guide says more or less the same as is printed on the information panels which...More

Dogs are allowed in the grounds but not inside the jail, but they do have benches you can sit on outside whilst your partner goes inside and then change over and you go inside, it worked for us.
