This is a site worth visiting it offers panoramic views of the area and you can walk up and down via a short walk. It's not hard if you have a general level of fitness. A must do.

Anita and I climbed the 1,000 or so steep steps up to this hill-top mighty fortress, which affords fantastic 360 degrees views all round the pretty town of Navplio from our high vantage point. The whole vast site is very impressive, with the prison cells...More

The climb isn't difficult, is fun, and a good way to prepare for more delicious Greek food! The view at the top is a reward worth having. One can drive up. There may be a bus; we didn't check. The stairs up start quite close...More

Great view, totally worth taking the stairs on foot, instead of the car. Really amazing place. Also recommended for a day-trip

Be sure to start down in Nafplio and climb the steps, it is well worth it. The lower section is largely restored and the upper sections are more wild, with fun crawl spaces. Read up beforehand, as there is almost no info on location.

I walked up to the castle, which is not so bad in November. The view is lovely but there are no guard rails so I wouldn't bring small children this route. The castle is quite large with lots of wonderful photo spots. There is also...More

Large rambling fortifications and prisons on a high point overlooking Nafplion and the Argolic Gulf. Stunning.

Drove up to the entrance. Yes, it's an option. Not interested 857 (999) steps. Quite a large site. Great vantage point to get great picture all around. 8 euro for the entrance fee. (10/2017) Wear good trekking shoes.

You can drive to the top where the castle itself is. Driving from center of Nafplion is about 10min. There are parking places but can get very crowded during popular days - times (i.e. Saturday - Sunday morning). From the... More
