good for you if you walk the 999 steps (we counted a few more). If you can manage it then it seems a pity to leave Nafplion without having done it. It closes at 15.00 I believe. We spent an hour up there. There's also a nice evening walk around the back (ie sea-side).

The castle is extremely well preserved but the most important element is the view. You can enjoy the surroundings, the old and the new town, the sea, the Bourtzi, etc. You can reach it either by the stairs walking from the old town up till the castle (850 steps) either by car. I've been there numerous times and I shall go... More

Very hard to walk up in a very hot day. But the view of sunset will be rewarding. Even just to have an overview of surroundings.

A place where you meet history. You need to have read about Palamidi so when you go to know what you see and what has happened in there. Apart from the historical side you will have the opportunity to see Nafplio and the whole Argolis from the castle, which is an extraordinary picture. Great Views.

Castle with historical importance for the place and extraordinary view of the nafplio city. You can see Kolokotronis prison and go inside the castle. Make sure to visit it while the weather is good and not windy. You can go by car or follow the path with the 999 steps! Good luck!

It was a very good opportunity to have this experience, the palace will give you a virtual tour in the old kingdoms and wars happened for it.

We braved the steps up for an amazing visit. It does take your breath away and the hike is not for everyone. Up at the fortress, bring a guide book to make better sense of the remains. Bring a picnic lunch too to enjoy the lovely views

With great views over the city and the bay, a very impressive large Venetian built fort on the cliffs soaring above the city. If you are in the area, do not miss!

The castle visit was a part of an excursion to Mycenae. We were very impressed with fantastic views of the surrounding lands. Very rough cobblestones make up the walkways of the interior area. We did not take the opportunity to walk back to the Town of Naufplio. Did have a few benches at the entrance for anyone preferring to sit... More

This was so cool. If you can handle 999 steps, you should walk up instead of taking a taxi. My boyfriend and I had a lot of fun exploring the remains of the fortress once we made it to the top. The views were pretty impressive too.
