Sanchi is indeed a World Heritage Site which we should be proud of. In a small area we can see the Best in terms of architecture, sculpture and faith which we had achieved more than 2,500 years ago. An absolutely marvellous heritage site. Must see if you visit Bhopal. It is just an hour's drive from Bhopal. The Guide's charges are Rs 480 but negotiable. I would recommend a guide to understand fully the architectural, historical and other significances of the structures.

Entrance is now Rs500 to see the stupas and the museum - a bit steep doubling this entrance but they are doubling everything they can. The grounds have been laid out quite nicely, but there are a few steps if you visit all the stupas. The rebuilt entranceways to the main stupa 1 are quite impressive with their detailed carvings... The collection of timeless and exquisitely adorned Buddhist monuments in Sanchi is worthy of the trip. There is a quiet spiritual essence to the site that fills the soul. The carvings are exceptional.
