575 steps, but you will not regret it ! Amazing view 360° . When you are facing the Virupaksha temple, look on the left, you will seen an other hill with a temple, you should go there also !

The climb is less arduous then expected and the reward is the great view from the top. Be careful about of the monkeys!

Walked up the back of the mountain which was a nice alternative route with no one else-but still clearly signed. Stunning view, worth the climb

One of the few places in the northern side. The stairs are well constructed. Nothing special about the temple except for the monkeys who play in their own world

If you have enough time... best and enjoyable way is go to hampi by bus and by Coracle (Round Boat) reach to the monkey temple mountain.
