The sheltered inlet of Boulders Beach is located in the Cape peninsula near Simon's Town. Here exists a protected colony of African penguins which can be viewed in their natural habitat via wooden walkways. There is also an excellent beach for swimming nearby.

A lot of people there. They charge you 75 Rand and in five minutes you have seen all the penguines. But I can tell also that I have been there.

The views of the penguins are amazing. There is an easy elevated path that winds around the nesting locations and shrubs high on the beach which leads you to the ocean where you are able to view frolicking in the sand and water while leaving the birds undisturbed. You are able to get quite close and have an awesome experience... More

Really nice place to go and see some penguins, especially me being from the UK, not something we would think of seeing often! Can sometimes be really crowded which runs it so I would say try going in morning.

In my opinion, together with the Cape of Good Hope/Table Mountain National Park, this is the best attraction from Cape Town, you can´t miss.

This is a fun experience, up close with penguins. There is a small fee to use the boardwalks down to where the penguins congregate. We were there in November and there were lots of fluffy grey babies and half moulted junior penguins. You can use the same ticket to walk down the path to the other end of the beach... More

Such a beautiful beach but probably a penguin only place and they should not be approached as you have been warned they have sharp beaks!!!

Great African penguin colony. The penguins are well protected from the elements here. It's in a beach where you pay to view the penguins and swim around these Boulders. It closes at 5pm so get there early enough.

Nice small natural reserve for the penguins, the small entrance fee ( used for the preservation of this little sanctuary) is well spend. Nice displays and plenty of opportunity to see these little creatures. Worth the visit!

Lots of penguins to enjoy. The smell is not too bad. Well stocked shop too. Quieter later in the day.
