We have been to Boulders plenty times, its amazing to experience the penguin life cycle, from eggs to fluffy babies, awkward teenagers and proud adults. Our favourite is to watch them "surf", when the go in and out of the water. You can see a...More

When you realize the beach is kind of in the center of town, right off the main roadway, it seems a bit of a letdown, but as soon as you walk down the walkway and start seeing the penguins, it doesn't matter where it is....More

We spent an afternoon at Boulders beach to see the African Penguin's. It was amazing. The drive from Cape Town to Boulders, is really inexpensive using the US Dollar as exchange rates are incredible. Don't miss this!

How can you come to Cape Town and not go see the penguins? It is truly a once in a lifetime experience. Don’t miss it.

It’s funny to see the animals laying on the beach. You can see like thousands of them, but after sometime you get bored of them and watching another penguin in the way back gets normal. You also have to pay 75 rands to enter the...More

The Boulders penguin colony is worth a visit with hundreds, maybe as many as a thousand penguins to be seen basking in the sun or nesting in the dune vegetation. There is something about a penguin’s wall that makes any human smile. Great penguin viewing!

If ya love penguins you have to do this. Walk the Boardwalk carefully looking into the bushes - we saw lots of new babies being looked after in their ground nests. It's smelly! Pay the entrance fee and brave the crowds down at the beach...More

The platform was crowded with people trying to catch a glimpse of these adorable birds so if you go during the peak time, do give yourself sufficient time to enjoy them.

We stopped at Boulders Bay on our way back from Cape Point, we got there quite late and the main beach had closed for the night, this beach has the majority of the penguins on and does actually charge to go on it. We parked...More

The kayaking is its own extraordinary experience, but probably not the best way to view the penguins, not least because they are so fast. I'd say the beach also, as you can really get close.

PS: Most people include a visit to the penguins as part of a day trip around the Cape Peninsula, culminating in Cape Point (Cape of Good Hope). In summer, it is also possible to combine the visit with time on the adjacent... More

Yes there is a small charge to enter - I think only £3 or £4 per person. Parking is available nearby - no charge for that - but it is busy.
