Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Strike Craft exhibit as my Dad CPO Walter Jefferies did maintenance on the vessels at Simonstown and Bluff naval bases. My partner an offshore diving supervisor enjoyed the diving exhibit showing how naval divers pioneered the industry. Staff were friendly but I suggest checking loadshedding times as your access is restricted to the upper floor for visibility and safety.

Marc is absolutely fantastic. He has the warmest welcome and tells the best stories. The museum is so informative, insightful and mesmerizing. We absolutely loved the rich culture history and everything there was to see, read, hear and experience.

We really were so impressed with this gorgeous museum. My husband did his military service in the South African Navy in Simonstown in 1972 and it was such a trip down memory lane for him to go back and visit in 2021. The exhibits are stunning and there is so much to learn and view. The place is impeccably kept and well preserved. We spent virtually the whole morning there and loved every minute. Definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend.

Most impressive. A fascinating insight into both the naval and social history of South Africa. Exhibits range from the days of Nelson right up until the present. You can easily while away 2 to three hours here. And it’s free! All they ask is for a donation.
The staff we met were exceptionally knowledgeable helpful and professional. Can’t rate this place highly enough.

This is a worthwhile museum if you like military history and want to learn more about South Africa's navy. The focus of the museum is more on that country's involvement in the World Wars, but there is good information about the navy's operations following that period.

Great exhibition
Very knowligable staff
The building the museum is in also has the old church in it that is still in use.
If you are ever in the region this is a must visit.
