Go the first and leave the last if you want the best experience. Walking on silence there watching the stars it is an experience that you can only get without people. Try to leave the last. You will enjoy it

Dress in layers as the temp drops at night. Take a flashlight for safety but your eyes acclimatize really well to the low levels of light from the lit candles on the way. They serve hot Mint tea while you listen to the flute and another string instrument (pardon my ignorance) followed by the face of the treasury that is... More

Seeing the Treasury at night before seeing it in the daytime is really the way to go! There is a lot of walking thru the siq in the dark so i suggest bringing a flashlight. I was happy i did! The Treasury looks amazing when they turn on the lights at the end. Once you see how BIG it really... More

We are pleased we took the long walk and saw Petra at night (thank goodness for the torch light on the phone!) Apart from being much cooler than the day, it was amazing to see the lights on Petra. After the evenings entertainment (stories and music) everyone seems to want to stand in front of the spotlights for photos. This... More

I did not know about Petra by Night before I arrived - and was lucky that I get to see it during my one-night stay. It was a magical experience - albeit tainted by people using their phone flashlight which ruins the darkness.

Petra by night is a different perspective on this ancient city with beautiful candle lights and a nice Arab music show in the package. We went during winter, so it was very cold, what made the experience a bit uncomfortable. If you can, do it in a different day than the one of your daytime visit to Petra. Walk through... More

So much hype, that's what it was. What we enjoyed most was the walk inside the Siq. Sadly youngsters continue to talk and shout so they take away the tranquility. Show was a disaster, with one fellow telling us to imagine how the Nabateans lived 2200 years ago and another playing music. Sweet tea was served as well.

Petra by night was on my bucket list, so I'm glad I went, but I did not realize how dark the 3km walk would be to get there. The ground is not as uneven as the shadows from the luminaries make it seem, but it is disconcerting. Bring one of those red-light flashlights. A regular, bright-light flashlight will ruin the...
