This is a MUST SEE if you ever get to Jordan! It will take your breath away when you see the ruins that are thousands of years old!

On your walk to the entrance of the Siq from the Petra Visitor Centre, you will come across the Obelisk Tomb among many other relics of the past. One of the more well preserved monuments within the Petra area, this makes for a good photo...More

Many visitors to Petra stride past this and the other tombs, thinking Petra starts at the Treasury. It doesn't. These ancient tombs are every bit a part of the Petra story and are in fact more impressive than many in the main Petra site.

This will be the first major monument that you see, even before you get to the Siq. It's a combination of a tomb on top and a triclinium (feasting hall) on the bottom. You can actually climb up to the tomb on top and go...More

This is another great antiquity to see as you head into the main area at Petra. It is well preserved and quite a sight to see.

The obelisks are fascinating and are one of the first things that you see before entering the Siq. They are tombs like the pyramids but the doors have been removed and then replaced in such a way that you cannot see the entrance. One entrance...More

This is the first major monument as you walk towards the ruined city after leaving the Visitors' Centre. The Obelisk Tomb(upper) and Bab As Siq Triclinium(lower) are two separate monuments, one on top of the other. The Bab As Siq Triclinium functioned as a dining...More

Don't forget to explore this as its common to rush to the treasury and neglect things that are equally historical. Even if you don't hire a guide, there an information board by its side. It is just one of the structures you will spot first...More

As you begin your walk towards the "Treasury" this tomb is often overlooked as being insignificant. It was built as a tomb for a father's four sons, thus each obelisk, one for each son. I recommend you hire a reputable, knowledgeable guide, making your trip...More
