- Laguna 69 is impressive to say the least. It’s easy to understand why it’s right at the top of the list for most people visiting Huaraz in Peru. - I would personally rate the hike as moderate, though if not at altitude, it would...More

We had to leave earlier than expected (around 2:30 am) due to elections happening on the country, however everything was perfect, actually we felt that doing the tour at those hours was better because our group was the only one at Laguna 69 and actually...More

Instead of a day tour, consider 2 days. Only for those who are already acclimatized to the altitude. Go to Laguna 69 by local transport from Yungay. If you start at Yungay around 7 am, you will arrive at the trailhead before the tour buses...More

15k 700m elevation. Very beautiful all the way. The lake is stunning. We were lucky to stay at the Llanganuco Mountain Lodge just outside the park, which meant we didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn (we left in a taxi at...More

Easily the best hike we've had, and we had 6 weeks in peru just hiking. The path is well maintained and views beautiful all along. The start of the Laguna 69 trek is at less than 30 mins drive from the Llanganuco Mountain lodge, versus...More

I was very hesitant to do this hike. It’s very important to climatize before attempting this hike, unless you’re one of those lucky people and altitude doesn’t bother you. I booked the day tour through my hostel Akilpo. I had a friend who did this...More

We finished Santa Cruz 4-day hiking and camped near the lake so can start out for Laguna 69 early morning. It was a good morning excercise with rising 1000m in the valley. You will see Mt. Huascaran and Mt. Chacraraju all the way so for...More

great views and very good place to acclimatize before Santa Cruz trek. Best views we had in the whole cordillera. The trek reaches up to 4500 m. The water can be bought just before starting the trek.

We got a tour with Akilpo. This worked out cheaper as it was 30 soles each (essentially just for transport), would actually be more expensive to do it independently. The walk was beautiful, lovely valley and steep ascent to the lagoon. We found the trek...More

We weren't asked but then we don't look young enough to be students 😊. It's worth trying your luck - we got a discount one day because the weather looked so awful!
