I wouldn't really call this a bazaar as it it is just 4 or 5 small streets of shops selling many of the same souvenirs. There are many restaurants and cafes and a few traditional artisanal shops. The "bazaar" is the heart of the Old Town and the cobblestone streets and alleys and medieval facades makes for a pleasant visit, despite the touristy feel. Berat was more authentic but Gjirokaster deserves a look. We enjoyed sitting outside eating our meal at a traditional restaurant and watching the comings and goings. Don't forget to walk uphill and check out the castle before leaving.

Gjirokaster bazar is set at foothill beneath the imposing Gjirokaster castle. It's a maze of winding cobbled streets going up and down.
Entire area is packed with dozens of shops - some authentic selling Albanian hand crafts like rugs and clothing items, some ordinary touristic selling souvenirs.
Anyway, it's a great and very picturesque area to stroll among Ottoman era architecture.
Be sure to have a drink in one of many bars or to try the traditional pastry - byrek.

Characteristic lively center of Argitocastro with classic shops for tourists. Several bars and restaurants with lots of people walking but nothing particularly interesting except The grandeur of the castle above. Difficult parking if not paid underground but cheap (2 euros for about 5 hours)

Nice place! You need only maximum 2-3 hours to tour entire place. Many tourist shops, restaurants and hotels around the centre. Lovely old buildings. This bazaar is basically one corner with souvenir shops, so don't except anything big and spectacular.

Cute bazaar in the center of Argirocastro, divided between souvenir shops, restaurants and places to have a drink. All in stone, you get lost easily inside the alleys. My girlfriend who has never visited a bazaar or an Arab country, particularly appreciated the peculiarities different from those we are used to in Italy.

This small town in the Albanian lands is worth a look.
The pedestrian streets are pleasant to visit very early in the morning when the crowds are not yet present.
Many souvenir shops complete these streets but they are not of much interest.
It is an original city where you can find excellent places to eat.
Half a day is more than enough to do the tour.

It's certainly not a souvenir shopping visit, as most of it turns out to be cinesate. But I wouldn't rule out that something could be found in some corner of some little shop. Certainly, the ensemble of houses with slate roofs, mosques and the small bazaar, still intact and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, make a good reason for a nice visit. Recommendation, try to get as high as possible, as the climb is really very steep.

This is not a Bazaar. It’s a little commercial/touristic area, restaurants, cafes, bars and souvenirs shops. Nothing special, doesn’t remotely resemble any middle eastern bazaars. I guess we were looking for something else, hence the disappointment. Don’t bother go there, might be nice for an NBC afternoon stroll.

Nice place with lots to watch and shop. Amazing especially with the narrow streets, bricks and the old houses. Much of the same thing they sell in the basar. Recommend to park the car and walk around. Very needed streets. Going to a guesthouse use a taxi or bus.

Went to the old town of Gjirokastra. It was smaller than i had imagined, but very beautiful. We were there late in the season, but there was still alot of tourists. I can imagine it would be a lot more in july/august. Charming coffee-shops and great food at a small grillbar. The castle is also worth a visit for both history and scenery!
