I don't usually write reviews on trip advisor but felt this was necessary: First the good: 1. Went with two friends and spent 3 days, 2 nights. The Hike is tough. There is a lot of steep, vertical uphill portions that can be demanding, particularly...More

This table-top mountain is the steepest I have ever climbed, and I've climbed quite a few "hikable" mountains. The first day get you up through beautiful fields and then a steep climb which offers great views. Then up the table, there are several options and...More

One of the most enjoyable few days of my life! The hike up the mountain was not very steep but not an easy challenge. There were lots of big rock to clamber over and there was some scramblying on the way up and some no...More

I walked across Mount Mulanje for over a week with a group from The World Challenge. It can be quite challenging with steep hills and crumbly terrain. I recommend leaving early in the morning as it gets dark very quicker between destinations. At the top...More

We walked up to the waterfalls and experienced the nice fresh water of the waterfalls. It was a relaxing experience. Next time we are definitely swimming.

Ive been up several parts of this mountain with different groups and its a nice relaxing walk, non technical. The huts are well spaced apart and the caretakers are friendly. The mission station is a must for organizing things, they are so nice and sorted...More

One of the most beautiful things you can see in Malawi. We went for a 2-day trip with my girlfriend and our guide Juma Tebulo (jumatebulo@gmail.com / +265 88 546 40). Incredibly nice man who knows the mountain like his own pocket. Fair price and...More

Opted for a two-day/one night fully catered hiking trip - walked with a guide, enjoyed amazing views and, after a wonderful, candle-lit meal, spent the night in a mountain hut.

I took a short walk from the ranger centre up to the old man's falls, about 90 mins each way. Fairly easy. You don't need a guide but I used one, at 3000 Kawacha I though it was good value and you get an insight...More

Not very difficult. Good shoes are needed but it's not difficult
We are two hikers hoping to keep costs low by finding other hikers to join. Does anyone have suggestions on how to find and join other groups? Is there a hostel or cheap place to stay where hikers would pass through? Can we just wait at the park office? Also, we plan to hike next week (December 14, 2016). Is it too late to hike around (and/or summit)?

The best place to stay at the bottom of the mountain is Mulanje motel, and over the mountain is CCAP hut! Near to the peak and natural swimming pool. Contact Juma a professional experienced and Tour guide to help you
