During our recent family holiday at Switzerland , we went to beautiful Saanen Village & Gstaad.

As we got down from our Coach the views around were amazing. We had got down near Saanen Railway Station, which is a quaint little station . You can hardly find any local people ,except it was having a lot of tourists. Saanen is a very beautiful place ,but it got more awareness in India after a significant portion of the movie DDLJ was shot here . The station, Church , River & Bridge are all near by.

We took a stroll around experiencing the calm & beautiful Saanen. As we came back to the Saanen Railway station we saw the Chocolate Train Engine .

Overall , a fantastic visit to the village of Saanen. Must visit.

We visited Saanen several times in order to get acquainted ;it has a specific air of the Bernese area.
We noticed the nice bust of Menuhin located in the square.
The most important segment has been the recital given by the great pianist Daniil Trifonov within the Saanen Church.
It has been consecrated in 1614 (!) and one may witness there an incredible acoustic ! From most angles you would not miss the purity of the piano sound ...

I go to Saanen and Gstaad often, it is a paradise ! Go by train with the MOB. The trip is like a fairy tail...the train goes slowly in the valley and climbs mountains. Just wonderful village in a beautiful setting. I like it in the summer time when the filds are green and soft to the eye. In summer their is a Menuhin festival. Do go to a concert in the Saanen church just wonderful. Plenty of walking and hiking area. Take the train and come back by foot or reverse.

After Saanen made the ring-road the inhabitants have changed the way they live and relate to the village. Every time these villages can do away with the automobile and create a promenade the quality of life is greatly improved.

We attended the End of Year Concert (Altjahrkonzerte) in Saanen's beautiful little church. A wonderful experience. The program included Mozart, Waldteufel, Von Weber and Rossini. (I immediately fell in love with the marvellous Bariton). And afterwards, while walking to the car park through the snow, everybody attending the concert were treated by the community of Saanen with glühwein, cheese and fresh bread. What a lovely surprise!
I love love love this beautiful town and thank you for your warm hospitality.
