    Marari Beach/ Mararikulam Beach
Marari Beach is the best beach in Alleppey. A true beach feel with the coconut trees around there and relaxing chairs. Stunning view of the sea, much more beautiful than the Alleppey beach with clean blue waters. Neat and well-maintained beach, one can enjoy both sunrise and sunset views. If you need relaxing chairs there you need to pay. We can even get into water up to some extent as waves are not that high. It is peaceful and less crowded, providing an ideal spot to enjoy nature and take long walks. Even with a lot of people, you won't feel it to be crowded as there are no fun activities being done here and mostly it's not crowded. Nearby shops offer snacks, ice cream, and other essentials, adding convenience to your beach visit. The beach is clean, making it suitable for a comfortable day out. Resorts and homestays nearby offer a convenient stay for those looking to extend their visit. You can find a few sunbeds available here, and beach umbrellas and chairs are available for rent at an hourly rate of INR 100. While situated in Cherthala, it is around 15 kilometres from Alleppey, providing an accessible option for those in the area.

    This area is magical.....
This area is magical. You really feel like you're being embraced by a community of people who know one another, are with their families, and treat you as a part of their lives for all of your stay - the tuk tuk drivers, the homestay owners, the shop owners, the cafe people... Its such a beautiful place, filled with birds and animals, peaceful, beach clean-ups being run, and I hope it remains as unspoilt as possible in this world of increasing tourism. To remove any of the nature for more roads or buildings would be a travesty.....

    Peaceful Beach
Very peaceful (go further south from the main bit accessible by the road) with a few beds and umbrellas to hire. It’s got a dangerous undertow so you need to time your entry and exit from the sea carefully but once you’re past the waves, it’s not too bad. Just keep your eye on drift and don’t go too far too out and it’s not suitable for children to a swim here. There’s a few cafes and restaurants set back from the beach. Very chilled place.

A tropical haven next to a peaceful beach
Peaceful resort right next to a long sandy beach, a perfect place to end our Kerala tour. Very comfortable rooms and good buffet meals. The three resident naturalists and their Earth Lab activities were the highlight of our stay. They helped us spot so many birds and were so enthusiastic about the local wildlife and the sustainability initiatives employed by the CGH Earth hotel chain. The swimming pool was gorgeous with plenty of sun beds and shade and all staff were really friendly. The peaceful beach was great for a stroll with stunning sunsets and cute crabs too. Highly recommended.

    Lovely stretch of beach
We were staying in nearby Marari Dreamz a 5 minute walk away. Pleasantly surprised by the beach as from reviews we had expected it to be a mess but it wasn't (at least where we were). A lovely stretch of sand. Enjoyed two swims in the sea and had two lunches at beach bars.

Definitely worth a long weekend or a week if you have time to spare.
Take care as you enter the sea it knocked me over the first time I tried to get in. Losing my sunglasses was nothing in comparison to the strong arm of a young India man who saw my plight and pulled me out. Thank you. Beautiful beach, fresh feeling. deckchairs and towels and umbrellas. A great place and we met some lovely people.

Chilled beach not swarming with tourists
There have been mixed reviews of Marari beach. For a real traveller who appreciates observing the life of the locals it’s great! Yeah it’s not paradise, it’s just a beach. It’s not perfectly clean. There’s some rubbish floating about at the busier end but it has a good vibe with nice places to eat or grab a drink whilst being by the sea or curling up on a sun lounger with a book. Fab place to go to in the early hours of the morning to see the local fishermen bring in their catch and watch the crabs scurry along the sand dipping in and out of the water. Lots of stray dogs but not a problem if you don’t mind dogs! The crows are a pest but you just shoo them away. I really enjoyed my stay here and the beach. Really chilled. Pretty quiet with few tourists which I prefer! Don’t expect luxury. Just appreciate it for what it is. Real India. I highly recommend Marari Nest Homestay nearby. It was the best Homestay I stayed in during the 5 weeks I was in India! Really clean, comfortable, gorgeous garden, five star hospitality and only a 4 minute walk to the beach.

My wife and I decided to vacation in Kerala for a few days. We found this place online and thought we should give it a try. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by pleasant courteous staff. We walked in and got blown away by the lush well maintained greenery and traditional infrastructure. It seemed like the hotel staff doesn’t even know that a word “no” exists. Everyone went above and beyond to make every single request of ours taken care of. Rooms were kept clean. Food at both restaurants was amazing. We asked for varieties of seafood that is not even on the menu, and still we got it. Private pool is clean and warm. Beach is clean and relaxing

Finally, I would like to give special thanks to naturalist Shibu, Chef Merlin and mixologist Subhan das for showing us good time and teaching us new things while we are here. We are definitely going to come back here with more family and friends. Here are some pictures of the activities we learned here

If your seaside holidays have to include swimming or snorkelling, this will to be for you but if you are happy with a beautiful stretch of sand and low-key beach cafes to sit in and watch the sea, sunset, local fishermen ... you should love this. If only the currents were not so dangerous and the sand so steeply shelving into rough waves it would be perfect.

This is more family friendly beach as compare to Varkala beach. Homestays by the beach, good food. But, in the weekend the place is crowded and there's no proper parking space so vehicles were lined on the side of the road before reaching the beach.

Very drooling leachy guys running cloud 9 cafe in unprofessional way. Beach nice enough but full of westerners which seemed odd. I'd rather mix with Indian tourists as well.

This beach has been totally ruined by ignoance and neglect. It is covered in rubbish which is never collected. The local Fisherman just poo in the sand and wash themselves in the sea after. You cannot walk any where along it's length without having to avoid the varying levels of mess. A real shame as this should be a jewel in Kerals bank.

This is a massive long Sandy beach with good swimming and development at the northern end slowly edging south BUT it is (like a lot of India) covered with rubbish with just keeps accumulating. Nothing new in that you say ....... Yes but this is the first beach I have been on in India or anywhere where there are dozens of people crapping on the beach - every morning.

I can cope and accept that there is rubbish washed up, or left behind, on a busy beach ...... but dozens of people digging an open hole and having a crap every morning is disgusting.

If India can afford a space programme and the worlds 6th biggest Navy ..... its Government can afford to put basic sanitation into a primary tourist destination.

If it was not such a stunning beach it would have scored lower!

I have traveled the world and the Marari Beach is below average. Starting w the positives. The staff is quite nice, particularly the restaurant team. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The food at the restaurant was also good. The negatives: The hotel maintenance is very bad, especially the lawn, pathways and room bathroom. The Wi-Fi is extremely slow, it simply doesn’t work. The hotel distribution couldn’t been worst, where the beach is far from the rooms, pool and restaurant. You end up not using the beach at all. Plus the beach is dirty and the local fishermen defecate on the sand, which is washed out into the water. This is right where you would be swimming. This is discussing and probably a health safety.

Don't know why this beach highly rated. Loads of rubbish and crap (fishermen all take a dump there on a morning💩).
Long beach but quite hard to walk on as steep gradient.
None of shacks serve alcohol.
Only place with a bar is Marari Beach Resort who wouldn't let us in the bar as "full' (presume didn't like the look of us).
Nearest bar / beer shop is 4km away.
Only go if you want rural India and no facilities.....
