Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a beautiful view from above. My fiancé and I drove from Puerto plata to Sosua to soak up the sun on this beach. Need to get there early because places to sit under spots away from the sun are limited. Great little restaurant located above

Right next to Sosua Beach, Alicia beach is in sharp contrast. Rent an umbrella and beach chair for 500 pesos for the day. If you enjoy loud music, hawkers, and restaurants and bars, don’t come to Alicia beach.
It is quiet and a flatter walk to the water unlike Sosua Beach. It’s not easy to get food and drinks, but I did see some waiters going up and down the steps to the restaurant/bar.
The only complaint I had is that there are no bathroom facilities.

Alicia Beach is beautiful, exciting and wonderful if you experience it as an observer. The waves whenever I've been have been big and crash at the shore, but that makes it difficult to enter and leave the water. Older people should definitely not enter the water....I've seen people shoved off their feet, lose their bathing suits and sustain injury. This is a beautiful beach.....just be very careful!

the beach is like the red light district of Amsterdamn. old men with young girls, and not for free. Lots of drugs, and dogs. Beach is rather dirty as well. Not anything like Cabarete. too many enabling human bondage.. This is not a place to take your children. No I would not recommend it. We won't be back.

good place for piece and quiet where you can usually swim if there is no swell. Great places to eat on the cliff (nicer then old sosua). Highly recommend. You can rent umbrellas and chairs there as well.

There is very little shade so if you intend spending the day, you would need to rent an umbrella ☔ and loungers which becomes expensive if you go there each day. The bathing can be rough, the colour of the flag will indicate the conditions. It's is a very quiet beach unlike others and usually not crowded.
It's very unfortunate that people litter the it with plastic, Styrofoam and plastic bags which never gets cleaned up, but this is the case all over this area. There is no regard for the environment at all and I think it is the locals who do this. Shameful!!!

With wide sandy stretches framed by scenic volcanic cliffs and topped by two very picturesque quintessentially tropical cafes -- the main one even sporting a thatched roof hut giving it the appearance of a giant tiki bar -- Alicia Beach is stunning.

Even on the most crowded days, there's plenty of room on the sand. There are lounges and umbrellas available. The water is warm, turquoise, clear, and usually calm though there can frequently be some small shore break. There's even a reef not too far out for snorkeling.

If one is an intrepid and skilled swimmer it is possible to swim around the point to Playa Sosua.

There are restrooms at the cafes and many nearby restaurants including the infamous El Rancho and Alicia Hotel.

The view from the clifftops overlooking the beach are unforgettable and the view from the beach affords a tropical wonderland complete with Mount Isabel to the west.

As a Hawaiian who has traveled to many beaches of the world, I find Alicia to be impressive, peaceful, beautiful and ranking right up there with some of the best.

If you're ever lucky enough to get to Sosua do not miss this beach!

I visited Playa Alicia, many times in the three weeks I stayed in Sosua. I highly recommend this beach because it's very quiet, no vendors trying to sell you souvenirs and a cristaline water that you can see where you are steppin' in. When you visit Sosua don't forget to visit Playa Alicia

I am dominican and know the island pretty well so let me sum up this review as best as I can:
Pros-Beautiful, clean, no one will bother you.....paradise
Cons-Walk towards the umbrellas involves super hot sand, certain months of the year waves get bigger so make sure you are a good swimmer and food is not easy to purchase because of the walk on the sand.
My final thoughts..... totally worth going if you can take a good pair of enclosed shoes and a small cooler. Also a bit of money for umbrellas and loungers.I like to pack water, a sandwich and my book.Love it there!
