I stayed at Kite Beach Villa #5. It is a beautiful spacious villa that sleeps up to 8 people. I walked along Kite Beach up to Cabarete beach and rented a chair and umbrella for 200 pesos. Beautiful weather, in and out of the water all day! Topped it off with great mojitos during happy hour! Restaurants all along the beach so one never misses out on drinks or food. You must eat at El Park , the pizza is amazing and be sure to eat Carabean Arepas ..it is to die for!! Another good restaurant is Latin Wok only to name a few. I would recommend Kite Beach Villas #5 and cabarete beach and Encuentro Beach if you have little ones..water not as rough. Enjoy!

We stayed at the Imperial Suites which is the end of the "kite beach" area. Still, the surfers were easily spotted, We had so much fun watching the boarders flying and sometimes wiping out! The resort had dining available inside or beachside (a la carte) and a meal plan is available if that's your thing. Our stay was walking distance to the supermarket and pharmacy. I didn't cook but the 1 bedroom had everything if I had wanted to. Enjoyed the pool, the fourth floor gym, and the variety of pool beds with a view of the beach (gratis). My husband and I took the tour in exchange for a free breakfast. Low pressure - I really liked getting to see the penthouse!

We had a great family beach day here. It's a long beach, so you can be in areas where lots of people are or secluded. It is windy, but it makes it feel comfortable when you are sitting in the sun. My boys loved jumping in the waves. We all enjoyed watching the kite surfers-many of whom did amazing tricks and would zoom around the boys. At one point, we counted over 60 kites in the sky. It made for a fun day in many ways.

At the beginning of December, Only two days of wind out of ten, lots of rain, breaking waves of two meters in front of the Windham Tangerine resort, walks 20 minutes by the beach to access Kite Beach where the breakers have only one meter favoring entry into the water with kites. Waves of three meters at the fence at two hundred meters, this beach is a spot for pros only. Even advanced intermediate with 10 years of kite, I pulled some. Beginners abstain.

It is not the most spectacular beach in Dominican Republic my by a long shot. But it is a long beach to stroll on, overlooking the entire Bay and seeing all those who kite surf. Considering that I was in the Dominican Republic, I find it a little boring that you come across people constantly like in Punta Cana when there are much quieter beaches in the Dominican Republic.

Cabarete is beautiful, we stayed outside of town at Kite Beach and at Orilla Del Mar and took the guagua into Cabarete or walked occasionally. Cabarete beach has the most restaurants, shopping, and nightlife. We found ourselves there quite often and found it easy to get around once we figured it out.

This expansive beach is not crowded, but not empty either. There are lots of kite boarders to watch, 30-40 spread over a wide are. Beautiful and entertaining to watch. The wave action can be quite vigorous at times but fun to fight. Watch for some undertow in certain conditions and places.

Went to watch the kite boarders and windsurfers, while enjoying the sunshine. Had a wonderful beachside bed, and really enjoyed watching the activities all around us. There were some beach vendors, but like most Dominicans, they were very friendly and polite. We ate a wonderful meal at the Calypso restaurant right on the beach. I had an excellent fettucine Alfredo, which was very creamy and flavorful. The service was good too. This is a fun beach to visit, but often not great for swimming as there can be large waves and many boards on the water. We were there a second evening later in the week, when the waves were much calmer, and we could have swum had we brought our suits... but from what I’ve heard, this is more unusual for this beach.

Cabarete no está influenciada para nada por la situaciĂłn de HaitĂ. Es una playa muy segura y tranquila entre las mejores del mundo para hacer ketsurf.

Hello! Yes, Cabarete Beach is great for swimming. You will want to follow all of your common sense safety swimming rules, such as not swimming alone and being aware of rip currents.

Hi! I am researching a vacation for 6 adults ages 25-60. What we want: rent a villa on the beach walking distance to nightlife (clubs are fun but we prefer live music and/or layer back vibes). So far cabarete seems perfect. We loved playa Del carmen for its strip of restaurants, bars and shopping. My concern is if caberete has enough of the restaurant/bar/shopping scene to keep it exciting? Will it be lively at end of January? Are food/drinks expensive (in US$)? Are there folks in their 50's there? Any live music? Walking on the beach safe? Even if it's touristy is there still a feel for the culture? Sorry so many questions...just really trying to get a feel for how we would fit in and if we would stay entertained! Thank you so much for any advice and info!

Hello Keri7272,
Right now I'm living at DR and we were there for few days during July.
Here are your answers:
My concern is if caberete has enough of the restaurant/bar/shopping scene to keep it exciting?
Yes, although I must say that after two weeks, you probably will know all the places because Cabarete is a small town.
Will it be lively at end of January? Yes, in fact, the peak season is from December to February. It will be a lot of people, believe me.
Are food/drinks expensive (in US$)? No really, but it really depends on your taste. You will find few really expensive places but also a lot of fit to budget too. Remember this is a small town dedicated to water sports. Must athletes travel with limited budget.
Are there folks in their 50's there? Yes, specially from Europe. You will be able to find a lot of people from Germany.
Any live music? Right now I'm pretty sure that you can find live music on weekends night, but during the peak season, you can also find during weekdays.
Walking on the beach safe? Yes, but at night is safer to walk where all the restaurants and shops are.
Even if it's touristy is there still a feel for the culture? sort of, because there are a lot of people from Europe trying to get warm in the winter. In this point, my suggestion is to take a taxi or guide tour the Puerto Plata, that will be 20 min ride from Cabarete. There you will see the culture from first hand, also you can some interesting places like the Cable Car (the only one at the Caribbean), San Felipe Fort, Larimar Museum, etc.
Any other question, just let me know.

I would like to know if there are the classic in cabarete Caribbean colors or not? from the pictures it looks dark sand and the sea is not nice
Written 18 May 2017
Hi. Cabarete beach is quite Caribbean colored, however it's amber sand (not white) and the sea can be very windy and wavy, as Cabarete is a beach mainly for windsurfing and kitesurfing. If you're looking for the white sand, clear light blue waters from the post cards, try Las Terrenas or Punta Cana.

We are on a cruise ship and from Amber Cove which beach? Sousa? or Cabarate for a day? Or try the 27 waterfalls?
Written 8 January 2017
If you're adventurous, do the waterfalls, but it's kind of a high thrill (as you will be required to jump off some cliffs) and there's a lot of walking involved. If not, both Sosua and Cabarete are great beaches, the main difference between them would be that Sosua is more of a family-friendly beach, as it's quieter and more swimmable. Cabarete has more waves and wind, and there's a lot of kitesurfing going on, so you'll find a younger crowd there.
