Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

One of the better historic sites in the Golden Triangle area. The grounds are well kept and the temple is beautiful. A must see if in the area.

This wat was under renovation at the time, but that, too, was interesting to see. There are 364 stairs up to the wat, so be warned. Fabulous and typical Buddhist design with good views.

Serene quiet temple with nice views. There are some new buildings surrounding the more ancient ones. Worth a trip but you need your own transport.

imo, the second best temple complex in the area; situated on a hilltop; the atmosphere is serene, there are bell gongs that you can exercise; all different tones; the inside of the temple itself is ok but not overly striking if yyou have seen many temples; you can park streetside and walk up the 330 steps (yes i counted them) or drive around the back/side to the top; nice view from the top; not over commercialized; need eat somewhere else tho; likely chiang saen city

Wat Phra That Chom Kitti is an ancient monument in the north of Thailand. It stands on the summit of Chom Kitti Hill, Wiang District, Chiang Saen.
You can reach the the temple via a stairway of 350 steps from the main road at the base of the mountain, or take the easy way and drive up.
It is a fairly tranquil setting, with great views of the Mekong River and Chiang Saen.

this golden pagoda on the small hill (Doi Noi) is one of the most important in Lanna, believed to be built more than a thousand years ago, tumbledown, abandoned and restored for many times, the last one was in 2007 earthquake when its top fell down, then being restored with the high technology of our present time, please take time to look at different parts of the pagoda from different restoration periods, by the way all is about the ‘Impermanence of Things’

Wat Phra That Chom Kitti, the forest hill temples can be reached by steep serpent staircases or by road. We went by road. The views of the surrounding area are spectacular from the hilltop.

This temple is worth the 308 step climb (you can drive) as you feel you're going to the sky and leaving the world behind. The stuppa is four sided each with it's own message, while the temple proper is unusual. See it to know why. Then the icing on the cake is the raised view over the Khong River to Laos. People circumnavigate Chiang Saen for the Golden Triangle. Mistake.

having lived in chiang saen for years i can say this temple is number 2 in the area; temple is nicer than most and the top of the hill is like a park; quiet, pretty; not overcrowded or over commercialized ; worth a visit
