Stunning seaviews
Nov. 2019
From Seoul, early morning took KTX to Gangneung than changed another train to Jeongdongjin. Walked quite a distance to the cruise resort hotel car park. The road up to the carpark is quite steep. Need to pay entrance fees think 3,000 won to enter. There are some stairs down but still manageable as along the coast it's mostly flat trails with some stairs along the way. It's worthwhile as the seaviews are very nice. I walked to and fro as need to take the train back to Gangneung station and KTX back to Seoul. There is a railbikes near the train station. Felt nice siting there watching the bikes go past as i waited for my train to arrive.

Lovely coastal walk that can be enjoyed by all
Jun. 2019 • Family
This 2.8 km walk along the rocky coast can be enjoyed by most and not just the super fit. Do start from the Jeongdong end at the Sun Cruise resort as advised by a tripadvisor reviewer as it's easier to go down the higher steeper stairs here. Try not to be nervous when treading on iron grill steps and boardwalk.

I thoroughly enjoyed the walk despite the effort of going up and down stairs in several parts. Although visitors are not supposed to take photos along the walk, many of us tend to forget without any problem fortunately.

Upon reaching Simgok, we spotted a waiting cab and hopped into it to head for Chodang Village to have our sundubu lunch.

A great walk!
Apr. 2019
This is a lovely coastal walk. The entrance is in the car park for the Sun Cruise hotel. We would have not realized that it was there but we happened to see a huge group of tourists on our first day and went to investigate. We started early 9am, to avoid said tourist groups and it was mostly quiet the entire way. It is quite hilly with lots of stairs both up and down. It was a little disappointing to have no beach access at any point but it was still lovely. Once at simgok we got a taxi back to Sun Cruise for 6000 but there is also a bus that you can wait for.

Nice trek along beautiful coast
Jun. 2018 • Family
I went there by mistake but i think it was a blessing in disguise. My family and i were set to go to suncruise theme park but i was in too much hurry and bought the entrance tickets at Badabuchaegil instead. It was in my itinerary but due to time constraints, i wanted to skip it but how glad i was that we went on the trail.

It was the most beautiful sights one can get. It is a 3km trail but it does feel more than 3km to me. We parked at jeongdong entrance and walked to simgok, which took about 1.5hrs with my 5 yr old in tow. Of course the time includes stopping to take fotos and reading up on the history.

When we reached simgok, there is a beautiful lighthouse in view and i think it has appeared on many korean dramas/movies. Exit is at simgok but we have a problem as our car is parked at jeongdong. I cannot make my daughter walk another 3km back so I trekked back to retrieve the car and met them at simgok.

At simgok, there are many cafes and restaurants. So after the trek, you can have lunch there, pretty perfect. But if you are driving, you probably gotta work out the logistics. Someone will have to walk the trail twice. I double up my speed and returned to the main entrance in 40mins. It is not a difficult trail but it is still physically straining, especially for those who do not work out.

Overall this place is a must visit if you are in donghae. You could at the same time visit suncruise theme park and view its magnificent yatch hotel overlooking the sea! This cruise ship also has appeared many times in dramas.

Fan Road in Jeongdongjin
Jan. 2018 • Business
This Road is open to the public about six months ago. You should get there begore 15:30 to walk along the road. It'll take about two hours to go and return. It is very beautifule to see breaking waves on gorgeous rocks. You should pay entrance fees.
