The paintings inside are quite interesting and pretty well preserved (compared with other temples in Bagan) and worth exploring but there is no lighting inside so you'll need to bring your own. However, having said that, it's not particularly large and due to the lighting...More

Another one of the "no photo" temples on the south side of old Bagan. The frescos are the real interesting thing to see here but it is best to see them with someone who can interpret them, or a good art book and a torch....More

Smaller temple and less popular as a result. Quite an attractive buddha inside and a nice courtyard area before entering the main temple.

The paintings are very interesting, though is you've seen the incredible UNESCO restored paintings at the temple across the road, it's a pale comparison. Still worth stopping by to see an authentic bagan temple.

Nagayon means 'protected by the naga serpent'. Inside the temple there is a huge standing image of Buddha, sheltered by the hood of a naga/serpent. On each side of it there is a smaller Buddha image. In the outer corridor there are many niches with...More

The story of King Kyan Sit, protected by a dragon on this spot while he was sleeping may be related to the figure of 10 snakes covering the statue of buddha inside the htupa. Entrance was reinforced with big wooden rods which is rare to...More
