The architecture and design of this place is stunning, I visited this place during the day and the temple was quiet and deserted. Lots of detail and vibrant colours. I won't recommend going unless it's during a festival period as there is nothing much else around. The temple is in a very industrial area looking area but there are local... More

for the chinese year of the rooster they put in place some giant roosters just in front. nice to see, would not recommend to go just for that Temple to Penang/Butterworth. If you are already in one of the many Penang island hotels it is a short trip over the bridge - 40 minutes! Nice ornaments and lots of details.

One of the must see in BUTTERWORTH town. The temple has been the centre of attractions and a must to visit by locals. This year the temple has setup a giant rooster to usher the Chinese New Year of rooster.

If one has some understanding of the Taoist religion, then this temple has some greater significance. Otherwise, to the ordinary (uninformed) visitor, it becomes a spectacularly ornate temple. Either way, and given there is not a great deal else of attraction within Butterworth itself, it is easy to find, and worth a visit.

What a lovely and inspiring place, literally in the back streets of Butterworth, so worth the visit. Everything about the temple if jaw dropping in it's beauty and intricacy. We came over from Penang Pulau (by Uber) specifically to see this temple and were not disappointed.

Nice temple with lovely Chinese architecture a bit of a trek to get to if using public transport but we'll worth the effort and it's free entry.

This is the place to be in when you visit Penang for the Nine Emperor Gods Festival. It's the heart and soul of the festival and attracts 1000's of people in the 9 days. At other times of the year it's a great place of peace and highly recommended to visit although you either have to take a taxi or... More
