Go for the view; not the temple if you are not Hindu-looking. The climb up is fairly easy if you take your time. You pass through several temple landings before reaching the top. There is a sad looking temple elephant that people feed food to as they pass.

We went on a Monday morning and it was not crowded at all. I imagine that when it’s crowded it can be a very different experience. A must-see while in Trichy.

The steps were fine if you took your time. And didn’t rush. You were then rewarded with a fantastic view across the whole area of the city and beyond. This was one of our favourite temples. We walked around the temple not inside as only Hindus allowed but not a problem for us. Enjoyed being the only white People around at that point.

Honestly i don't know what rating to give.
Whether to give good rating for the experience or bad rating for the way it leads to this experience.

Nice Temple on Hill top with 3 Deities - Lord Shiva with his consort and Uchi Pillayar.

Temple has very odd timings. Only Uchi Pillayar temple opened all through the day. Steps are quite steep and old people may find it difficult to climb till the last. No Lift or Rope car facilities like in Palani. Old people may find it tough.

Lots of Breezy air on the top. Will be a nice experience if visited in evening time. Srirangam gopuram is visible from here.

Quite Walkable from Chatram bus stand. Road leading to temple is very congested due to shopping complex, hotels, road side shops etc.
Request to take a walk instead of coming by vehicle.

Cannot spend much time in Uchi Pillayar temple as it is very small and crowded, but you can come down a little bit and spend time in the hill.

Cameras strictly not allowed. They have a separate person for watching this.

One of the Best Place in Trichy. Traditional and Historical Place . We are See all Trichy City View. The Rockfort is a fortress which stands atop a 273-foot-high rock, consisting of a set of monolithic rocks accommodating many rock-cut cave temples.

This was my first visit to this famous city of south India. It was an amazing experience in climbing 411 steps. The entire temple complex is inside this one gigantic rock. From the entry into the temple complex to the peak is one steep climb. At the peak is the deity of Lord Ganesha (Ucchir Puliyaar). From here one can view the kaveri river.
Other major deity is Lord Shiva at level one below.
The priests were very pleasant and narrated the history of this famous temple.

Rockfort is situated in Trichurapally. reaching this place is quite easy and you can reach there by auto or cab. Mind the narrow lanes if you're traveling with your own car you won't find space for parking. There is a shoe stand available from where you need to start climbing the steps. You also need to wear a full pant or tie a longi around your waist. there are various temples on the way of your climb which act as a relaxing and resting place in case you get tired. Do visit the Ganpati temple and Thayumanavar temple. Ensure you enter every group you see on the way to get the access to various temples. You need to be really inquisitive and enter everywhere and you will explore a hell lot of temples and beautiful views of Trichy from the various windows around this place. Along with religious activities this is a good place for hiking as well as photography

It’s really worthwhile to visit a Rock Fort. The climb up the many steps affords an excellent view of Tiruchirapalli below. Try to go close to sunset as it’s a bit cooler and it’s a lovely view at that time.
