You will not see animals here but you will see beautiful nature and this is your chance to do some not too difficult hiking. Maybe not for small kids but my teens loved it.

If you visit during the flamingo migration months (August - Sept), you will be treated to approximately 1 million flamingos in the lake at the bottom of the crater - so many that the lake will appear pink from the ridge above. If you visit...More

What a magical, mystical place. Well worth the long drive and hike down into the crater. Although we didn't see much wildlife, the isolation, tranquility and view was spectacular. It can be a bit tough hiking back out so take it easy and pack lots...More

This is one of the rare chances to break a driving routine and do a 'walking safari'. It was a very welcome opportunity to get out of the car and walk for a few hours. You are escorted by an armed ranger, who also doubles...More

I'm not as worried about the elevation difference, but about the altitude itself. I've seen mention that the top of the crater is 8000+ feet. Did anyone have a problem with the altitude on the walk?

We have done several hike to this place, no one had any altitude problem. In case you have altitude issue, best to ascend at a slower pace. Jordan D' Souza / Tanzania Serengeti Adventure
