Dating back to 1812, this house acted as parsonage for the Rev Andrew Murray and then his son Charles. The museum was opened in 1956 and is now fitted out as a complete home, with drawing room, dining room, kitchen and bedrooms, whereas the cellar...More

Museum small but interesting, only spoilt by the unfriendly and unwelcoming staff at the Museum/Tourist Desks who were not interested in assisting visitors to the Museum at all, and couldn't even manage a smile! I really don't think that this attitude helps to encourage tourism...More

I visit this museum every visit to Graaff-Reinet because there is just so much to absorb. It is beautifully laid out, maintained and managed.

A highlight of this visit was when children visiting with their parents were so excited about things they saw there. It is indeed a worthwhile visit. I must mention that I was impressed by the plaque honoring the Jewish pedlars, so well known to farmers...More

Some interesting displays of the town’s history. The kids enjoyed the displays of how things where in the previous century. It will take 30-45min to go through the museum. There are more display rooms downstairs, so make sure to view them a well.

This is a Museum well worth visiting. Take the time to go through the vast array of items that are on display. It is hard to conceptualize that in that time, such a short while back, there was no such a thing as a bathroom...More

I am very glad that we visited the museum and that I could see and learn about my history and only now realize how hard my ancestors have worked.
