This was an insightful visit. Just to see what our forefathers had to cope with and their ingenuity to solve the plroblems which they had to cope with.

We were most impressed with the displays and annotations. Good coverage of so many wartime encounters and such a lot of artifacts from such a sparsely populated area. Graaff Reinet certainly made a worthwhile contribution when asked for both military support and memorabilia.

The museum deals mainly with district's involvement in the Anglo-Boer War and the two World Wars. The limited scope did not bother me, but I would have liked something on earlier conflicts in the district.

Tucked away behind Urquhart House. I had to ask for a key to enter. A wealth of information on local involvement in conflicts of the 20th C.

Graaff Reinet has many museums and rightly so, it is an area of much importance in the country's history. The Anglo Boer War especially so, it set the pace for 20th Century with its many dramatic changes. The Museum does igt a disservice.

The Anglo Boer War information was a little sketchy and assumes some prior knowledge. I was very impressed with the story of the midlands units that served in WWII.

I agree with the other reviewer about a lack of information on Gideon Scheepers and exactly why he was executed. Little explanation. The uniforms were interesting along with the various artifacts used by the soldiers. Some displays were quite moving.
