Unless you are in town, do not go out of your way to see this. It is a beautiful town and the memorial and town hall is immaculate. However, it is not particularly special, except for the state of its upkeep

Especially as it is surrounded by the Jakaranda trees which are in full bloom in the spring/summer. Also very pretty at night with the lighting.

This is quite an impressive monument in front of the town hall - but it's been let go to a degree as has the park it is in. It was interesting to see many overtly European names and the mix of non South African regiments...More

There is a well-tended square between the Dutch Reformed church and the town hall, in the middle of which stands the Victory Peace Angel. The fallen soldiers of both World Wars are commemorated there. It was impossible to get up close to read the inscriptions,...More

A walking tour through Graaff-Reinet to take in the historical side of the town is a must and stopping for a look at this beautiful statue in front of the town hall is well worth a photo opportunity.
