We were in this area September 2016, but then we had way too little time. Now we were able to drive around game area by Nqweba for some hours. We were very surprised for two reasons: -we saw much more animals what we had expected!...More

Camdeboo is usually visited to see the valley of desolation which is a small but stunning geological feature. There is a short walk around this area. It is possible to walk along the valley bottom but this is difficult to access. Many tourists just go...More

Travelling on the road to Graaff-Reinet we spotted an African Spurred tortoise that was hit by a car. The specimen measured 31cm long and 16 cm high. Its rear carapace had a trauma hole and was bleeding a little. Alive and all four legs were...More

Camped here for two nights recently. Camp sites are spaced apart and you thus have some privacy. Ablution block was reasonably maintained. There are bush hares and bush mice around you which will provide entertainment for the young ones. Monkeys are a pain though. Check...More

We stayed two nights in the tented camp and loved it. The accommodation was two single beds under canvas with a small fridge. There is no toilet or shower in the tent so there is a bit of a trek to reach those facilities. The...More

The road goes up to a spectacular view of Graaff-Reinet in the valley below. Along the way we saw different types of antelope, some zebras and ostriches. At the top the viewpoint overlooks the Valley of Desolation. This is a small gap between two volcanic...More

Camdeboo national park is a bit of the beaten track in the middle of Karoo but it is really worth it to visit it. Valley of desolation has superb view, go for sunset or sunrise. There are not many animals in the park but we...More

Stayed at Camdeboo on my way from Durban to Cape Town. The park is very different from the big 5 types we get north, but a gem. I am more of a big animal fan, but fell in love with the bird life and lay...More

We camped a few nights in the park. The campground is well maintained and the sites nicely spaced with privacy from each other, good braid and a welcome picnic table on each. The viewing deck overlooking the dam is a must at sunset. There is...More

Not much to see. Need binoculars for bird hides. Dam in far distance. Needs to be populated with more wildlife.

The Valley of Desolation is close by along the main road. There is no direct access between the two places, you have to leave one and go to the other, but it is worth it.
