There is a lot to learn from the museum like i learned about the threatened fish species in lake Victoria and then the ages dance troupe is pure entertainment. They'll get your ribs cracking and if they engage you in their dance, that's a memory that will forever be stuck with you.I still can't forget the dance

The Kisumu museum show cases the culture of the luo people. Houses within a homestead are spatially located based on their inhabitants (notably the heirachy of the wives). Visit the homestead and probe the musuem staff for more information. There is a snake house and a snake garden; in the snake house there is a collection of pythons, vipers, and... More

I mostly liked this place because I'm into snakes, and it has the biggest rock python I've ever seen; also a huge Gabon viper (as well as mambas, puff adders, cobras, and rhinoceros-horned vipers). The first building is a natural history museum - very small, containing the same basic info you'd find in any natural history museum (but mostly signs,... More

Very sleepy museum with a few dusty collections and a sparsely populated "aquarium". The highlight is the mock-up of a traditional Luo village behind the museum itself, which does include some interesting information on tribal life. However, you'd be better off spending your time wandering (or even better, biking) around town, you'll learn a lot more doing that!

Kisumu Museum is still being renovated, but a visit for an hour is well worth. It displays a variety of things from around the lake. A big exhibit about Luo-life. Adjoined snake park is also interesting.

There's not a ton of classic tourist attritions in Kisimu. My wife and I headed to the Kisimu Museum hoping to learn a bit more about the area and it's people. While we learned a couple of fun facts, the museum is limited, poorly maintained and hard to follow. There are a few different sections of the museum that don't... More
