This zoo is the worst I have ever been to. Looking at some of the reviews from last year it seems that standards had dropped further by the time I visited this summer. It is not really a zoo as there are very few types of species and barely any information about the animals. It's pretty much just an animal... More

This zoo is waste of time and money. Zoo without animal. I will not recommend to anyone. This is not accessible by transport. This should not be called zoo.

Unfortunately I feel ashamed to even tell anyone there is a zoo in Kumasi, especially as the Garden City with all the forest reserve we have to visit a zoo with very few and aged animals is really a laugh and a big joke actually. It needs to be scraped!!!!!

To the credit of the keepers, the animals appear clean and moderately healthy. The pens vary, some look spacious and adequate, some look so pitiful you could almost cry in sympathy for the poor inmates. Lions looked healthy and happy, snakes, turtles, other miscellaneous creatures. Chimpanzees were kept in what I think the worst of conditions, isolated and in barren... More

It's pretty bad, really. Old fashioned zoo with tiny cages and sad, bored looking animals. But this is Ghana and it is all there is for those of us who liver here. The only good part is that the animals can easily be seen as their environments are so small. Our kids like to see the animals, so I'll give... More

well, so much being said about how underfed the animals are and how poor the place is, bla bla bla. For sure, it's true! You can cry looking at some of them...true. BUT! Not to go there and not to support them? Well, who else gonna do it dudes? the zoo will not close just cause you don't go there,... More

This place is indeed a mini National Park right in the heart of the city of Kumasi. The aren't that many exhibits and the cages are old looking but the general atmosphere is one of high biodiversity. The staff are quite friendly though their dressing is a bit shambolic. Somehow the fees charged are quite moderate even for expatriates. Compared... More

This is a place you should never visit in Ghana if you are an animal lover. The animals are very poorly maintained and the place is stinking. Both you and the kids will not enjoy the place. It will be a total time waste for your family.
