My wife and I (60+) booked a three-day trek. It was very efficient, and we were paired with two charming young French people. Everything was well organised, and we had an excellent guide (Peter) and scout. The place is just magnificent, with astonishing views. The campsite was well equipped, and we were very well fed and breakfasted. I became very sick on the first night (not the fault of the trip), and we had to return to Gondar, which Ginbie organised quickly and without fuss. Our only quibble would be the toilet facilities at the campsite - of course they are simple, but the complete absence of water and soap by the toilet itself was a problem during the night. The staff provided plenty of soap and warm water when they were around, but midnight visits meant using our own water and hand-cleaner.

My husband and I just completed a 6day trek to Ras Dashen and we have to say Ginbie , Fanta and the entire team from Simien Mountain trek were absolutely super in every way!!! Nothing was ever too much trouble and everything was with a smile . And Even after the trek we found ourselves stuck in Gondar as internal flights were cancelled , Ginbie arranged immediate transport to Addis so we didn’t miss our international flights and we were truly grateful to him and Wendy who drove 13hours non stop and we made our flights home !! Everything was excellent and we would 100% recommend Simien mountain trek !!! They were incredible !!

Myself and my Girlfriend recently did the completed a Simien Mountain trek with Ginbie. From first contact the service received from Ginbie was excellent, even receiving phone calls and WhatsApp messages to help prepare and pack for the journey before even leaving for Ethiopia. Our plan was to see as much as possible in the mountains as possible on a very tight budget. Ginbie managed to arranged a grueling 4 day trek with almost 75km covered in the 4 days. Again we were on budget so avoided the luxuries of the Chef and Mule to carry the gear. Day 1 - dropped off and straight up to 3rd highest peak in Ethiopia @ 4070m back down to 3300m Chennek camp. Rather than us having to fly with Tent and Matress Ginbie had arranged for this extra bit of kit. The tent was lightweight and easy to setup and pack down each night. Day 2 - 25km hike traveling up to just below the 2nd highest peak, down to the next camp Imbok. The views and scenenery throughout this day were EXTREMELY EPIC. Words cannot really explain the scale and size of the mountains traveled on this day. Day 3 - Very early wake up and start ( 3am ) up to Ras Dashen. We were fortunate enough to have full moon on this night and could pretty much navigate our way up without the need for headlamps. The hike up was really tough and saw us all digging deep to find the strength and power to keep going... but boy oh boy was it worth it once we all made it up. Quite an emotional moment for both myself and my girlfriend actually 😅. I can’t recommend Ginbie and his crew enough. Both the Guide and Scout went way above and beyond to see us through the full journey. The Guide was extremely knowledgeable about the mountains and animals in the area, growing up in the mountains himself he had connections and friends all over the place which always comes in handy. As for the scout ( Braan ). What an absolute legend! All through the hike he stayed with my girlfriend walking closely behind her. Through the small villages where crowds can quickly build around you and get crazy, he was always there to lay down the law and keep her safe. He really did care for her!

I am a woman in my sixties traveling solo and was looking for a 3 days/2 nights trek. Apart from a one day hike to Sankaber camp where most tourist go, I wanted to visit a less touristy area around Mulit with big pinnacles and boulders. Communicating via email, Ginbie (ginbieabebe@yahoo.com) was fast to respond, very precise answering my questions, and he organized the trek the way that worked for me. He was very reliable and delivered all he promised. The mountains are beautiful and I had a great experience!
