Great for hiking
Mar. 2019 • Friends
Fun place for a short hike or longer one. Hike all day and have a simple hot chocolate or a whole meal that is deliciius, with wine and desert. No need to to go anywhere else for the day. Bring a camera!

Afternoon excursion from Caracas
Jun. 2019 • Friends
Caracas these days does not offer many escape opportunities for just a few hours . Going up the Avila mountain stll does , whether by cable car at knock down prices or by 4 wheel drive vehicle up a completely paved road . Near the summit there is the little village of Galipan which although rather touristy with food kiosks is interesting and friendly . The offered food is mostly good too .
The views on a clear day are fabulous , to the south the vast city of Caracas and to the north the Caribbean Sea, and reasonably priced

The Avila is a spectacular symbol of Caracas
Jun. 2019 • Couples
This huge mountain is the queen of Caracas. Its massive presence is beloved by the population of this valley.

Caraqueños are very proud of their Avila. They paint it, photograph it, dream about it, sing to it, place it in works of art, poems and novels.

You can enjoy spectacular views of the Avila from many different places in the city. The whole mountain is a National Park, and the access to the mountain is restricted. There are different types of paths, some for hikers and others for cars (you can only use 4 wheel drive -4x4- cars. Using any other type of vehicle is dangerous and could lead to fatal accidents).

There are different spots where you can enter the Park. One of the entrances for hikers, Sabas Nieves, is located in the neighborhood of Altamira, at the 10 transversal, steps away from Tarzilandia Restaurant.

The town of Galipan, located high on the mountain, can be reached by car. The ride can be very bumpy, and the road is really steep. There are many wonderful restaurants and the views are spectacular.

It is really advisable to visit the mountain ONLY with local experts who know the roads and access, the risks, the dangers, and the basic measures that you have to take in order to stay safe.

Hiking on the Avila
Feb. 2019 • Friends
The mountain is spectacular. Hiking trails are very good and a trip can range from 1 hour of easy walking to a very full day a extreme hiking to the peaks. Safe on regualrly used trails. Security is staying in groups

Avila mountain
Dec. 2018 • Couples
I went to Avila Mountain. It's a very beautiful place. You can see Caracas and the cost of Venezuela. First, you need take the transport to go to he mountain. That cost a half dollar to venezuelan people, but foreing tourist cost 5 dollars or more because of the situation of Venezuela. Once on the top of the mountain, you have glasses to see the nature and the City of Caracas. The place has restaurants and a little town. The nature is very awesome and you can see the Humbolt Hotel. This hotel it's closed.

Wonderful place to visit by foot or by car but you should go in group. Many small places to eat. You must wear a jacket because is cold in the top of the mountain.
