I went here with a friend who was showing me around the city. The square is small and has some lovely building surrounding it. It's a place to get your picture taken but be careful as it is not one of the safest places in Caracas.

This very central square has always been the center of the venezuelan capital. Today it is a bit dilapidated but there are huge beautiful trees, and the most famous statue of Boluvar the Liberator. It is a good place to watch people and also impirtant buildings: the very simple Cathedral and the yellow building that used to be the presidential... More

Yes, it is safe to go - nothing will happen to you. You need to be in this plaza as many things of historical significance happened here. The statue is right in the middle and they always keep it clean and safe.

We passed by the Plaza on our coach tour of Caracas. It is a suitable tribute to Bolivar and worth seeing, but there was nothing other than the statue which encouraged us to linger

At one time this was a majestic and typical nook for people watching and seeing the children play with the pigeons. Now it is taken over by the political power to be and is not too tourist oriented. You can still go and visit the lovely cathedral in the plaza. Never sit on the monument of Simon Bolivar, it is... More

Plaza Bolivar was a nice trip when I was young. There were some random food post around the square, a few store nearby, old people feeding pigeons and squirrels. It was a cool place to do some down time just enjoying the view. Now is mostly fill with junk stuff sellers, people running and thrashing about, and it's in a... More

This square is one of the main points of interest in the old town of Caracas. I came fully expecting a very unsafe place but was pleasantly surprised. I felt quite comfortable walking around and taking pics (albeit with a healthy level of paranoia).

One of the many points of interest in Caracas. However not as interesting as some other places, the plaza bolivar is huge, has a statue of Bolívar and free wifi. If you are going downtown, you will probably pass by it anyway, since it is close to other points of interest such as the birth house of Bolívar.

The zone where the Plaza is located and the Plaza itself are quite nice. The plaza has a beautiful equestrian statue of Simon Bolivar. If the area were not so dangerous, it would be a nice place to relax with family or friends.
