Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Did this hike 4 years ago and loved it, and again this year on our visit to El Chalten. Caught a shuttle out to El Pilar and walked from there, its well signposted. Had to wade through some water at the beginning as the weather had been warm and the snow had melted a bit, causing rivers to rise but all part of the adventure. The walk is easy, flat, and meanders through absolutely gorgeous forest. The hut is a welcome sight, the staff are very friendly and make wonderful hot chocolate. Walk a bit further to the mirador up the valley, a great view. Love this place.

The first part of the hike is forested and ends at the hostel, sheltered from winds. After that, the scenery opens up and you are exposed to the full force of gusts coming off the Marconi glacier. If you have a rainy day, as we did, the valley may flood and you will have to wade several tributaries to reach your transport. Bring wading shoes.

We were staying at the Eco Domes and needed a wet weather hike. This was a fairly flat, 20K round trip hike from the Domes on a very wet day. We were happy to arrive at the Hut at Piedra del Fraile where we had a beautiful vegetable soup, hot chocolate and dried our clothes near the fire.

We enjoyed this hike and it is easy to get to the trailhead from El Chaltén. We walked along the Rio Electrico, rested for a bit at Refugio Piedra del Fraile and then hiked up to Glacier Pollone and saw the N. face of Mt. Fitzroy. There are other hikes in this area so consider staying for more than one night and the refugio serves delicious food. This is also one of the entrances to the S. Ice Field with lots of history.
