Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We wandered in to say hello, planning to walk down the street to find the walking trails behind the school like our tourist brochure suggested. Then Elke called out to us from behind the counter, asking if she could help. We said we liked to hike, we could handle a challenge, including uneven terrain, some scree and a certain steepness, although we could not “climb.” We said we were looking for a 4-5 hour hike. Elsie listened to us, asked insightful questions and suggested Caribou Mountain. She stepped outside with us, pointed out the peak and gave us VERY helpful tips to find the trailhead. We left with some written directions and a sense of purpose. The hike was PERFECT—challenging but so rewarding—and we never would have found it without Elke. This was the perfect tourist service.

The visitor centre is one of the handful of official Yukon Visitor Information Centres. It is pretty small with some small displays and an island sgelf of brochures in different languages featuring destinations in Yukon, Alaska, and northern BC.

There is also a logbook in front of the staff to leave your information there and leave a comment about yourvisir. The staff were nice and friendly and gave us a map of the town and some guides about events in town.

A lovely road trip from Skagway, Alaska with family. We rented a car and had a beautiful scenic drive to Carcross. We especially loved the Carcross desert! We have never seen a desert in the mountains before. Very cool visit. The sand dunes were just perfect and unspoiled, a spiritual place to visit.....I think. :)

How wonderful to go to a small place like Carcross and find such enthusiasm from the lovely people working there; they recommended places that we did not know anything about like the beach....can you believe a beach in the middle of the Yukon, you have to see it, if the weather and the water was warmer you would be in it. Walk around the streets and check out the houses, it is a self walking tour then go to Caribou Coffee Cafe for the most delicious hot chocolate.

Went upon the Whitehorse and Yukon railroad as far as possible, continued by coach, Carcross is situated on the Klondke highway south of Whitehorse. Maybe the place is just for tourists but well worth the visit, lots of totem polls brightly painted,a really well stockt shop for any souvenirs or practically anything you might want, the visitors information centre was fairy large and had all the leaflets that you could imagine about the area, and if you asked they would stamp your passport with a Yukon motif, spent about 3 hours here before the bus took us back to Skagway, real good day out.

Carcross is an adorable town in the mountains. The visitor center is painted like an Orca. Really gorgeous. I went to the local Native American interpretive center and met a very interesting docent. The Center's focus is the Chilkoot trail. I told her my great grandfather and his brother climbed it to look for gold, but all the claims were taken. They opened a laundry service and stayed for a year. They left Orting, Washington with $11 and returned with $11. She was part of the family living there during that time and there were pictures of her family on the walls. One was of her great grandmother -- very nice. She encouraged me to climb the Chilkoot! She said it is safe in summer and every hiker is closely tracked for safety. I'm so glad I stopped there to watch some videos and buy a few books.

We made a trip to the Carcross visitors centre and we were greeted by Suzanne and Dagmar. They were absolutely wonderful. Dagmar spent a good twenty minutes with us about the history of the town and what to see and do. On our second visit, we were locked out of our accommodations and again Dagmar was there and the rest of the staff was able to help us out by calling the staff at the location and doing everything they could to help us figure out our accommodations for the nights.

Drove into Canada- following the Yukon gold rush trail. We stopped in Carcross for a little shopping, and bathroom break. The visitor center will stamp your passport as they do not do that at the Canadian check point. Carcross has 4 or 5 shops in a modern mall like area. A couple of older buildings giving it a little historical look. There is a little Museum- historical area off the visitor center that tells a little about the Gold rush.

A good place to snag maps of the local area and to pick up a Yukon stamp for your passport. After that, just a walk through the Native themed shops almond the boardwalk is nice
