My friend lives in Steinbach and took me to the Mennonite Heritage Village. It's amazing! We walked through time reading about the past and struggles the early Mennonites had. That part alone took us an hour. You see a room full of quilts and handmade...More

The Mennonites are members of a Christian denomination that values non-violence as a prime virtue of Christ's teachings. Throughout history these beliefs have unfortunately made them easy targets for both state and sectarian persecution. In the 19th century, a group of Ukrainian Mennonites fled persecution...More

Could have stayed a lot longer.....there was so much to see and so much information to digest! And I think we were there too early in the season for the outside to be fully operational!

The overview of the museum village is the hardscrabble effort to wrest a life from the Canadian prairies. It's the understated reality that early Canadian governments were willing to give a place to a religious persecuted sect a secure environment in which they could call...More

In an old house, you can open the doors to old ovens, explore old buildings, pet some animals, sit in old cars. Great experience!

Out favourite time is late in the season (September) and early in the day when you can have the run of the place without any crowds. It takes a couple of hours to explore the outdoor exhibits but add on 30 minutes if you take...More

We went a little out of our way to see this, as we were traveling on highway 1 from Winnipeg to Kenora. It was a nice change of pace. The city of Steinbach itself was interesting in its own right; somewhat on the quaint side....More

We did enjoy the museum and the ladies at the cafe. Lovely lunch. The 40 acres with lots of history makes you realize how the settlers made it and how things are today.
