Overview
More
Barmouth developed as one of the major ship building centres in Wales during the 18th & 19th centuries. The harbour still has a small fishing industry but is mainly used by pleasure craft. The estuary is home to Merioneth Yacht Club. Lining the edge of the harbour are cafes, ice-cream parlours and a pub with pleasant gardens to sit out in and watch the world go by.

Great launch spot for Stand up paddle boarding. Park in the lay-by on opposite side of the road overlooking the old harbour cross the road and launch from the slip way at high tide. Paddled under the bridge to the beach. It felt very safe.

With all the boats which are tied up and bob around the harbour and with Barmouth Bridge as a backdrop, it's a lovely place to visit.

An attractive seaside front overlooks the boats, the beach and the rolling hills in the distance. Amazingly we discovered a vegan friendly chip shop so it was the traditional chips and mushy pies for lunch followed by a selection of sorbets. Other nearby restaurants had...More

As David said you can do everything you want to do as Barmouth is now 'in season'. The ferries are regular & are deliberately timed to meet up with the Fairbourne railway. Tickets are available on the day. 😀😎

sorry for delay had problems with my password I cannot think of any rooms in the area with balconies. A sea facing room is the best you can get -check on TripAdvisor.
